Hey, you put up the Edmonton snake, but not the Vancouver snake. I think that would put everyone in a good mood!

With four wins in a row, the red snake continues its hunt for the black line. For the first time all year, the Flames have a winning record, 14-13-2. The red snake is now 3.951 points below the black line, 7 points below the green snake, and remains 2 points above the purple snake. In order to stay above the purple snake, the red snake must win its next two games against Arizona (8-13-4) and Winnipeg (13-13-3).

I think I've found out why the snake was initially not performing as expected:

Interesting ... I can remember thinking how bad things were going to look when this year's pace wouldn't be able to keep up to last year's pace in December when they won all those games.

I was pretty confident red snake would over take purple snake but not until 55 game mark.

Quite a turnaround

This team really loves this time of year. Red/Green and Purple had really good climbs this time of year. Just unfortunate the green snake had such a flat spot after. Lets keep this climb going!

Yeah, my thoughts as well. Now we are looking at the red snake overtaking the green snake by game 35 or so. Crazy.

What's the playoff point cut off projection right now? 93-95 points?

So we need something like 30-20-3 over the next 53 games?

That's not unreasonable at all.

Yeah even the Iginla flames teams tended to make hay in December after slow starts.

What sticks out at me is that 2014-15 was a consistent team. Outside of the one stretch of 20 (or so) obviously streaky games, they never deviated by more than a couple of points from their average pace (a 97-point team). They kept bumping into the black line; a little above or a little below...they were always close for 3/4 of the season.

Last year's team was all over the map, rarely being close to their (ultimate) average pace. There was really no point during last season where you could have accurately extrapolated a "pace" and come up with the right result. Unfortunately, this year's snake looks similarly inconsistent so far. Until we start to see them develop a consistent trend, all the snake says to me right now is "could go anywhere!"

I'm glad the recent trend is UP. But when I see about 20+ games that actually fit a straight line fairly well...then I'll feel comfortable starting to extrapolate.
