to be clear, i meant that Vegas should wait and see who the Ducks expose first... i think the Ducks and LV can still come to agreements in principle even after the lists are made public.
this would be similar to other teams making deals with Vegas to target players for them and having an agreement in principle after Vegas makes the picks

I think it's kind of lame that teams can make deals for Vegas not to select players. Personally, I think they should be forced leave players exposed and just risk them being taken, and that any player Vegas takes cannot be traded back to their original team for at least one calendar year.
I could be wrong, but I don't remember this being allowed during the last expansion. I recall some teams acquiring players from other teams to leave them exposed in lieu of other players (the Flames acquired Kuba for that purpose IIRC).

the clarkson contract can be seen as somewhat of a beneficial one for a team trying to make the floor right?
is this an indication that vegas will be taking only very affordable players in the entry draft and just barely making the floor?

1st+Ryan Murray is a pretty good haul for Vegas from the Jackets. The players theoretically available for Anaheim are even better, so that deal will be real interesting...

It would be premature to say Klimchuk, Poirier, Shinkaruk and Lazar are busts yet.

It was technically allowed, but because there were two expansion teams at the same time and a bigger protected list, it was pointless. Nobody was going to bribe Columbus and Minnesota in order to keep their #10 forward or #6 defenceman. (Teams protected 9 F, 5 D, 1 G or 7 F, 3 D, 2 G.)

I never said they were busts but they are middling prospects that every organization has in their system. Maybe one or two of them make it but my point was if you have players that are already contributors on your roster why give them up over a 20-30 first round pick that could end up a middling prospect that may or may not make the NHL.

Vegas selects William Karlsson from Columbus, and acquires David Clarkson's rights and a 2017 1st-rounder and 2019 2nd-rounder in a trade.

Knights are getting some good young players and getting paid to take them. If anything, this expansion draft has been fun.

Remember when MacT offered an even bigger contract to Clarkson than the one he got from TO?
