Default Marc Crawford will be Calgary's Head Coach next year

Was listening to the TEAM1040 this am and they had Crawford on an interview from Zurich where he is currently coaching. They were teasing him about the weather in Zurich being better than the weather in Calgary and how they heard he might be moving to Calgary soon. Crawford awkwardly stumbled around the question which led the hosts to believe that they may have been on to something.

Just passing this along but could be nothing more than two Vancouver radio hosts giving an ex-Canucks coach the gears. But there could be something to this given that Crow has connections to Burke from his Canucks days. Hosts went on to speculate that Niewendyk will be the GM and it makes sense given that Burke has past working relationships with both Crow and Niewy.

I don't even like Hartley and I'd much rather have Hartley.

Hartley's done a terrific job with this group, I don't see any way that they make a coaching change for at least another year.

Burke seems to have gone out of his way to praise Hartley...still, a change would not be a surprise, especially once the new GM gets in place. Crow isn't someone I get excited about though.

Sure.

Obviously he MUST be the next coach because a morning show guy asked him how the weather in Calgary is and he stumbled on the question.

Yeah, because our GM, who we haven't hired yet, has told his future boss - Burke - who he's going to hire when he gets here.

I know a guy at Orange Julius who should be able to confirm this. I'll let you all know after lunch.

I would hate to see that Mickey Mouse voiced weasel Crawford in Calgary.

Hartley has earned another seasons. I don't want to see a parade of coaches go through during the rebuild. Once the team is on the upswing and you need a Quenneville to push them over the top make the change.

Given the pedigree of the information, it would be irresponsible not to speculate.

Strombad this one is for you. You always seem to hit what I'm thinking too many times. Maybe you'll use it.

I would have a really hard time being excited about a Mike Crawford coached team. I'd rather have Brent Sutter back.

This rumor came out of Vancouver the day Burke was hired. Would to be shocked if it came true but I am a big Hartley supporter and hope he sticks around

There is no truth to this at all. It would make zero sense for Burke to tell Crawford he will be the next coach when he is so high on Hartley and Burke won't even be the one to decide that issue. That will be the new GM'S call.
