Become an expat. Although not for everyone, changed my life completely. Immersing into another culture was a major life changing experience for me.

Moved away from Calgary. It's been great, not because Calgary sucks, but because the rest of the world is awesome.

perform stand-up comedy. Nothing will ever scare you again after trying to make a roomful of people laugh.

Travel. Seeing the world is important, but seeing our own country is overlooked. Specifically, check out the North. Drive on the Arctic ocean. Go dog sledding

Echoed here already, but travel. This is your world, your planet. Often it's not the destination or the landscape that makes it amazing. It's meeting the fellow humans that populate this planet alongside you that make for the most memorable experiences.

Go somewhere out of the box and experience life through the eyes of someone in another country. And as amazing as some places are, it makes you appreciate the life we have in Canada that much more. A good trip makes me realize just how great we have it in this country.

Post-secondary education. I've done it three different ways: undergrad right out of high school; a second undergrad in my mid-late twenties; a graduate degree in my mid thirties.

Every single time it's been different but tremendously rewarding. The experiences, friendships, and things learned have massively enriched my life.

Also, doing it different ways has been valuable, my parents paid for the first undergrad and it was a blast, but then when I paid for the second I learned A LOT about responsibility and determination and time management.

Then, doing a masters through intensive summer classes was amazing. It's like summer camp for grown ups. I got to meet incredible people, being a peer with your professor is a really cool experience too, very different from undergrad.

You don't NEED post-secondary, obviously. But boy do I recommend it.

Echo this. Spent 2 weeks aimlessly cruising the Dakotas, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana last summer with nothing but a tent, sleeping bag, 1 change of clothes (took 7 pairs of gaunch lol) and whatever food roadside truck stops and mini-marts could provide. It was the best 2 week vacation of my life, and cost nothing more than gasoline and the odd camp site when I couldn't find a little clearing to camp out. Met some amazing people along the way, and tipped beers with everyone from hardcore biker club Harley guys, to European tourists on BMW touring bikes. I left with no itinerary but head south and figure it out along the way.

If you ride. Put this type of trip on your agenda. It's a must.

My life was contained on this little red machine for 2 weeks.

And the cuisine was gourmet. Lol

I would agree. It's really not as crazy of a milestone that many people believe and is probably doable for the majority who want to put in some effort.

Or at least for 70% of westerners, take six months and work on your health. I'm not even saying anything crazy. It doesn't need to be drastic. Read up on CICO, get some exercising activities that you enjoy. Instead of a large fries, 10 McNuggets and a large coke, if you do a medium fries, 6 McNuggets, and a diet coke, you'll save yourself 750 calories. Do that 4 times and it works out to be a pound difference. Add in a couple hours of cardio and/or weight training and you'll lose weight and get fitter.

Six months is more than enough time to go from obese to healthy weight, and from 0KM to 20KM+.
