As was just posted, there is evidence that shows the switch has a real life negative impact on the health of people.

A lot of the science of sleep suggests that small changes negatively impacts your brain, heart, weight, overall health, and life expectancy.

Maybe you don't notice it, but it's real.

I don't like switching the clocks around either but Alberta shouldn't change it till the rest of North America does.

On the other hand, someone has to be first. Or second, but nobody cares what Saskatchewan does.

I agree that everyone needs to do the same change. We need some grand intergovernmental body to sort this one out. Come on, UN, your time to shine! Screw the Paris accord, we need a Greenwich one!

Don't worry, by the time a government got to the point of making a change official your kids will be in high school.

Ahhh... Well, your personal anecdotal experience probably does outweigh the peer reviewed scientific evidence to the contrary.

Maybe heart attacks and suicides aren't bad enough consequences of changing time for you. How about statistically significant evidence of an increase in fatal car accidents?

People act as if December is the only month that Daylight Savings time messes up. I argue, it's the only month that Daylight Savings time can't fix. It's not the only month out there, folks. Your morning sun in October, November, January, February and March will be really messed up just so that you can go home in the sun in December. Most people want the Sunny in the Evening in summer time (DST), but that time means that the sun won't get up before you and your kids go to school for 5 months of the year. It means that in December, it won't be sunny till 9:30-10 am. It means that your morning commute will be darker, colder, slower, and more dangerous for 4 months of the year.

I get it, the time change sucks. It's not great. BUT - living in this latitude with a set clock that doesn't change through the year and isn't based on High Noon, isn't ideal. There is no ideal. People get upset about the negatives to time changing, but the positives outweigh the. It's just hard for people to see that.

Mark my words, if people get this "correction", they will want it changed back after a year or two.

I think Arizona was first in North America.

I've never been bothered by it. Only change if the rest of the country does

Looks like the NDP is getting cold feet, and looking for public input.

After a 100+ clock changes in my life I'm kind of use to it, can I vote to just leave the damn thing alone?

No daylight savings time here in Queensland. Careful what you wish for...it's amazing what changing the daylight hours effects. Bedtimes, eating habits, work outs, kid sport, tv habits, etc etc...everything is worse.

Unless you surf or ride a road bike you should be voting for maximum evening sunshine.

The hassle of changing your clocks twice a year versus the hassle of having a "weird" time zone that doesn't match the rest of North America every day? I vote we stay the same unless other jurisdictions also switch.

At least keeping daylight savings time is better than staying on standard time.

Being 2 hours ahead of Vegas, California, and BC? No thanks. Being in the same time zone as Winnipeg? No thanks.

.... for 3 months. And who cares?

Late starts to things on TV > seeing the sun in winter?

Honestly, "not having to deal with 9PM starts for half our road games" is by itself a better reason to stay in alignment with the rest of Canada than seeing the sun at 5PM is a reason for change.

I echo the same sentiments of a few here. Regardless of is MST or MDT is better, the benefits of remaining in sync with the reset of North America greatly outweighs any potential benefits of going MST or MDT permanently.

Personally I think daylight savings works quite well. We get long evenings in the summer when we don't need the sunlight in the morning, and then we shift back to regular time in order to have the sun and the work/school day pretty close in line.
