Oh man...I just found a single one of them in my house yesterday. I hope it was a one-off.
(childhood traumatic experience, and I don't like them at all)
Reading this thread makes me want to avoid my basement.

I noticed the same thing yesterday evening when I went on my deck. Much more than usual trying to find a place to build a nest. I immediately went out and bought one of those fake wasp nest things. It seemed to work like a charm the previous couple of summers.

If you can locate the nest then wait until dark before you strike. The little buggers wont know what hit them.

There's something satisfying about watching someone using fire to get rid of their wasp problem

I'd spend the $100 and get an exterminator there. They will find it and destroy it. They are in your house!!!

I found this on the interwebs. I have the same problem with wasps under my front step. I'm going to give this a try.

Make a natural insecticide with peppermint oil. There are natural insecticides you can buy that make use of peppermint oil, but if you cannot find one or want to save a few bucks, you could try making your own at home by diluting a little peppermint oil with water and applying it as a spray.[3]
Mix 2 cups (500 ml) of water with 30 drops of peppermint essential oil in a spray bottle. Spray this solution on wasps and nests.
Consider mixing 2 Tbsp (30 ml) of shampoo or dish soap into the spray bottle, as well. The soap will make sure that the peppermint sticks.

I have this issue every summer with a small hole under the front step, removing the nest/filling the hole and going full genocide each time. They always rebuild in the same spot. It's over man, get all your stuff and go on vacation, we'll take care of the rest

They didn't stop until I obliterated the nest. Those are persistent little buggers.

Found a few holes near the outside of the foundation. Upon further thought we did catch a mouse or two. Would it make sense the wasps have moved into however the mouse got in?

Any ideas how to proceed and other wreck foundation
... sprayed some RAID down but I don't think it will be affective.

I had a wasp problem a couple years ago under a back step. Used wilson 1 shot foam, it plugged their entrance up firm so the little #######s were trapped in their lair.

Killed them with impunity as well.

Konk works like a charm too.

I turn my vacuum cleaner on with the hose right by wherever they are congregated and just leave it (works best right by the entrance/exit to their nest). Has worked really well in the past.
