Default Wasp infestation

The last couple of days I have noticed a large amount of wasps in my home (even with all doors/windows closed.

When I got home from work yesterday there was about 30 large wasps crawling on floor in basement (where it was dark) so they were all dazed. About 2hrs later there was another 10-15.

On the main floor the same corner is always buzzing with 5-10 trying to get out the glass window.

I have made sure that all vents are closed and they still seem to be sneaking in.
Have only been in the home for 1 year so unsure if this has been a problem in the past (was not last summer).

There looks to be an old chimney (its an older home) that has been replaced sometime in the past with 2 electric fireplaces. Could they somehow be sneaking in through there as this is in the same corner that most seem to be hanging out.

There is also a constant swarm at the front door area (same corner-ish).

I have tried to put a few of the water bottle w beer traps outside near the swarm and none want to go for a drink.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions, or recommendations on someone to call?

Thanks,

Look for small holes around foundations. Sometimes they get through old and crumbling mortar and can build a nest alongside your basement foundations. Get those RAID foam sprays, and go to town. Weird that they are kind of dazed. Have you checked in the fireplace?

Crack out the electric fireplace and get a bonfire going.

Have looked at the fireplace (as they are the electric glass ones now)... Cant really look much further then the glass and around it to see if any buzzing that I know of.

A little 2 scared to go stick my head down from the roof and see if a nest is hiding and or know what to do once I did that haha.

Also, how does one get close to where they may be hiding (the front bush/foundation) to see without getting pumped by them. I know the internet recommends nighttime as a disguise but that seems rough to go poking around a nest area.

Well, if you are doing some exploration, dress for it. Long sleeves and pants, heavy socks, rubber gloves. Tape sleeves to your gloves, and the same with your pants and socks. Hood, scarf, and goggles for your face. Get a can of RAID, and go checking.

Speaking of wasps, I've noticed way more of them so far this year. Anyone else? And is there a reason why there would be more this year?

Just kill a few of them and put the corpses onto toothpicks and set them up outside your house as a warning.

Is spraying a power washer into the bush/side of the house where they could be living a good or bad idea?

I did the same thing years ago but donned all of my motorcycle gear, including full-face helmet. They buzz-bombed my shield but not a bit of skin was exposed. I didn't care what the neighbours thought.

I think you guys are over-reacting to having neighbours who are Protestants. I mean they're annoying, I understand that, but you dont have to kill them with fire!

Last question before I go home hunting.

Once they buzz bomb you, how long until they leave you alone...
Or is the next suggestion to light myself on fire afterwards to kill the little #######s?

I think wasps thrive in hot dry weather? Lots of them in Kelowna.

Mosquitos thrive after wet weather?

I dunno - as soon as I saw them in my house I'd go for professional help.

Outside? Sure, I'd snowsuit up and give it a whirl myself, but I would not mess with anything that was indoors on my own.

If you do though, good luck! Show no mercy as they will not either.
