Default Going to Disneyland!

Taking our kids to Disneyland in January. We've never been. 2 girls 7 and 10. Any suggestions, tips or tricks?

Got the Hopper app watching for best price on flights. Haven't booked a hotel or anything yet. (Would rather be cheap then extravagant) Do we need to rent a vehicle? (Spending a week there) Going to Supercross at Angel Stadium Jan 7.

Thanks

Use the quick line thing in Dinseyland where you go and get a ticket that tells you what time to come back. Allows you to skip a huge chunk of the line.
California Adventures isn't nearly as good as Disneyland but also isn't nearly as busy. So if you are going to be through the weekend - target Disneyland for a weekday and CA for Sat or Sun.

Eat outside the park. There is nothing worth eating there. Your wallet will thank you also.

Did you get the Citypass?

Definitely rent a car, unless you're spending every day in Disneyland/California Adventure, your hotel is within walking distance, and you don't feel like seeing anything that isn't Disney related.

Los Angeles isn't doable without transportation and renting your own car is the easiest option.

Be sure not to get on the plane to Winnipeg.

As far as your car goes, it really depends on what you want to do. I've been to Anaheim 5 times now and I can confidently say you could do it without a car easily. Only problem is if you want to go into Los Angeles and sight see a car is really helpful. If you're planning on just staying in Anaheim Uber might be a good option, but it's really up to you. Angel stadium is a 5 minute drive from Disney so if that's as far as you plan on straying from the Disney area you'd be fine. Again, there's a lot to see there and a car is handy so gauge how much sight seeing you want to do. Traffic sucks though.

California Adventures is usually not worth a full day but I'd strongly recommend checking out the Tower of Terror before Disney disgraces it with that Guardians of the Galaxy crap. Still can't believe those bozos are doing that. It closes on January 3rd so if you're not there before then I guess you're out of luck on that.

Use fast pass for sure. Those are a life saver. Try plan your day around that. Get fast pass for all the big rides and wait in line for the smaller ones. Agreed that you should eat outside the park as well, it's pricey and not that good, although it is a cool experience to eat in the restaurants there. The character breakfast is really cool if they still do that, but I'd limit how much I eat in there.

http://www.isitpacked.com/disneyland...ctor-calendar/

pick days that aren't busy...99% of the horror stories about disneyland come from people that go at the busiest of times. "OMG 4 hour wait to ride peter pan"

yeah no #### its xmas and half world is here

There is a good calendar online that tells you the special days, and you can search for the least busy days to visit. There are sometimes events that close the park early, so don't go on those days, or go early.
Disclaimer: It's been 20 years since I was there. But we had fun.

It's like a coupon for Southern California attractions. If you are going to be doing more than Disneyland for theme parks.

We found it beneficial.

There is a reasonable hotel up the street from Disneyland. It's walking distance. The area is pretty ghettoey, but nothing really bad. There is an awesome Mexican fast food restaurant near the park though. Forget the name, but we all liked it.

The app will never win design awards but the book/website/app is well worth the cost.

If you only have the one non-Disney activity I would stay within walking distance. Everyone's different but we like being able to walk back when it's hot or we're tired, let the kids hit the pool, head back again, always on our own timetable. Parking is a pain and the cost of hotel parking plus Disney parking plus rental adds up fast.

Disneyland/California Adventure are both wonderful. Your family will have a great time! I will echo other posters- Soarin' Over California is great in particular.

If you are able to, I really enjoyed checking out Huntington Beach (the surfing capital of the US, with a big pier you can walk out on) and Laguna Beach, which was rather pretty.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Pretty much our only goals are leave Jan 5, Supercross is Jan 7, and fly home Jan 12. We want to hit DL one or 2 days in there. Looking for suggestions to fill the other days as well with the kids
