Default Dan Hamhuis injury

This one looked pretty bad! Worse than the Crosby shot to the jaw even. I expect he'll miss some time. Luckily the TV's didn't get a great angle on it, for those who are squeamish

Edit - did Boyle ever miss that shot by a country mile

No idea where Boyle was going with that one. Rogers doesn't have the liveliest boards for a bank play. I think he just tried to rush a shot and didn't really aim that one at all.

I was fine with it until I watched a video with both the SN feed and the MSG feed, and on the second feed caught Hamhuis kicking the ice in pain before getting up.

Yikes.
I had one tooth knocked out a few years ago in hockey, and it's been a nightmare. I can't imagine the pain he's in, and the pain he will be in for reconstruction.
Ugly, but it's tough to avoid in hockey. Better his mouth than his eye though, I suppose.

i know its not tough but especially with fighting all but out of the game, why don't the players wear cages or full shields. so many injuries would be prevented or minimized.

Well if everyone had to wear them it'll even out the playing field. I think a big one for the NHL is it's harder to see people's faces so you loose the whole face recognition part.

But to avoid situations like this I'm all for it

For what it's worth I've heard players complain about visibility of pucks around their feet when they have had to wear a full shield. But I suspect comfort and machismo are larger factors.

According to the Canucks twitter, he suffered a facial fracture and is scheduled for surgery tomorrow. No timeline for his return.

Ouch. I busted a jaw on the ice once, and it wasn't fun. Welcome to smoothies and straws.

Brutal. That poor guy just cannot stay healthy. And they are usually weird/flukey injuries.
