Because if you make the decision to let your population carry guns in order to prevent crime this is what preventing crime looks like.

No, the poll is saying that 51% of whites and 23% of non-whites report living in a household with guns. It's the same reason why male + female also doesn't add to 100%.

That's incorrect, they were replaced by the PSNI (Police Service of Northern Ireland).
The RUC was a giant mess, and being a Republican and encountering a RUC officer was much like being black and coming across the LAPD. Well, probably a lot worse than that. There was lots of evidence suggesting the RUC may have aided the UDF and UFF/UDA (terrorists).
The PSNI was formed to attempt to provide a non-partisan police force, with affirmative action to ensure it had enough Catholic/Republican officers, although still protestant dominated, and still subject to a lot of criticism from Catholics/Republicans.
That place is largely a mess, although much, much better than it used to be.

Here we go again....
This time from Flagstaff, Arizona
Deadly Shooting Reported on Northern Arizona University's Flagstaff Campus
A deadly shooting occurred on Northern Arizona University’s Flagstaff campus early this morning, and the suspected shooter is in custody, according to a university spokesperson.
One person died and three others were wounded in the shooting, the spokesperson said.
It's unclear what sparked the shooting, which took place near Mountain View Hall, a dormitory which houses most of the campus' students involved in Greek organizations.

See this is what Ben Carson was saying. He'll just wait for the next one to go visit people if he were president. Or in another GOP candidates words "stuff happens".

Yikes, I just passed through Flagstaff the other day.
I guess gun people will argue it's not a "mass" shooting, so nothing to see here folks. Just your run-of-the-mill scenario of a citizen protecting himself. Carry on.

I graduated from NAU. If ever there was a sleepy campus. Kid was probably from Tucson. Although AZ does have a lot of rural gun nuts.

And it wasn't enough to have one shooting incident at a school in the US today, so we had to have another incident at a student housing facility on campus in Texas.
http://bigstory.ap.org/article/49094...after-shooting
Quote:
The shooting occurred late Friday morning in the parking lot outside University Courtyard Apartments, which is on the edge of campus. The shooting prompted officials to temporarily put the school on lockdown.
Investigators say one student was killed and another person was wounded. Police say they have at least two people in custody for questioning and don't consider it an active shooting investigation.

Yep, more guns are the answer. Clearly.

Interesting article here on school shooters and scary if the theory is right.

In the day of Eric Harris, we could try to console ourselves with the thought that there was nothing we could do, that no law or intervention or restrictions on guns could make a difference in the face of someone so evil. But the riot has now engulfed the boys who were once content to play with chemistry sets in the basement. The problem is not that there is an endless supply of deeply disturbed young men who are willing to contemplate horrific acts. It’s worse. It’s that young men no longer need to be deeply disturbed to contemplate horrific act

Most Americans agree: More guns = good thing. God Bless America

A majority of Americans, 56%, believe that if more Americans carried concealed weapons after passing a criminal background check and training course, the country would be safer

Not sure if sarcastic, but that is pretty much the reaction now in the news in the US since these mass shootings are so commonplace.
