It shouldn't be, but you don't seem to understand that aging goalies who perform well are and exception- not a rule.
No they really aren't especially compared to other players (defense and forwards) but again this has nothing to do with the fact that Luongo is still putting up better than average numbers, was good enough to make Team Canada and is much, much better than anything the Canucks or Panthers have on their roster now or going forward.
He makes the Panthers immediately better and the Canucks are worse now than when they started the day.
Your claim that getting anything for him was great isn't just a homer viewpoint it is one of the more moronic comments made here in awhile.

Trends...Yes...Look at the trends....
So his last few years have been average despite being having a boat-anchor contract, thank you for posting the stats which have proven my original point.
The Canucks, noted as a goalie graveyard, had two actual good goalies, NHL caliber starters. And now they have none. How anyone can say they handled this situation well is beyond me. Homerism can only go so far.

The real overlooked loser in all of this is Jim Hughson.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

No more ridiculous fan outbursts of Louuu to be heard anymore. This makes me extremely happy.
According to Canuck message boards they thought 7longo would fetch a 1st, top prospect and roster player.
Vancouver didn't come close to that kind of return.

I am glad Luongo is out of this toxic mess and got to go where he wanted to go.
I am also glad we got more than a 2nd rounder that was offered by the Leafs last year.
I want to pass along my condolences.
I can count on one hand the amount of Vancouver Canucks fans that I've met or interacted with that I've liked personally who weren't d-bag hockey fans (lots of great people are bad fans so I want to make the distinction).
You are a good fan, a great poster and I can only assume your good qualities are applicable to you as a person as well. You don't deserve the clown show that is the Canucks head office.
I take great joy in watching the Canucks implode but I do understand there is collateral damage. On behalf of Flames fans i am sorry you have to suffer.

except they could have taken the 2nd rounder and kept Schnider
Could have. But Schneider had other issues. He wasn't traded just to help clean up the Luongo mess. Management had other issues with him, rightly or wrongly, and decided Lack was the one to go with for the future.
