He's regressing to the mean. You can't strikeout a paltry 2.7/9 innings and expect long-term success in the majors.

All the announcers love to praise guys who pitch to contact, but you have to be able to miss bats at some point.

Explain to me how this is regression? He's been pitching the same way all season, his K rate has never been high. He's a young pitcher still trying to find out his stuff, and needs to develop a K pitch.

I've said far back on Bluejays threads he's going to get beat around until he can find a strikeout pitch.

Agreed, challenge is he is a young pitcher and his pitch location is not good enough. That will improve once he obtains more experience...

When his pitch location is improved the K rate will increase.....

Regression to the mean. His great results early in the year simply weren't going to keep up when he's not missing any bats. I think we're on the saying the same thing, but regressing and regressing to the mean are completely different. He's pitching the same as he always was, but putting too many balls in play is eventually going to catch up to you

Hutchison's injury sounds bad and now TJ is likely. That hurts even more with how strong he was pitching.

Lawrie is really starting to heat up. Another bomb tonight. Rasmus and Lawrie are going to be stars in this Jays lineup for years to come me hopes.

Has the makings for an incredibly painful rest of the season with the injuries to the Jays pitching staff

I'm just hoping Lawrie and Rasmus can both continue to progress , some of the call ups and the incredibly value trade chips we have going forward. I'd love to see this team healthy with a 3rd starter though. Romero, Morrow and someone.

This is not a things are going wrong write off of the season. But not many teams can sruvive losing 3 starters in one week, while having Mcgowan already on the shelf.
