Hey they already are only $3million away from the cap this year and they still don't have a top goalie or more than 1 top 4 d-man.
psshhh that assumes Draisaitl and McDavid meet expectations. This is the Oilers were talking about.

I don't have a problem with this...
It just makes it so much more sweet when they fall short again.
It's not that I think they won't get better, it's just that they won't get that much better that quickly.

Maclean must be daydreaming or something. Oilers have no meaningful defense nor a good goalie. They will not have a decent chance for a Cup until that's fixed.

Let's look at the facts:

- Gifted teenager who will be competing for the Calder this season
- Addition to the roster of a young, big defenceman who can eat minutes and score points
- Ongoing development of young, skilled forwards who played on the top line last year and performed well after the regular season ended
- Big, young power forward who saw limited action last year but will likely be a starter in the top 9 this year

A Stanley Cup in two years might seem a little premature, but four years sounds about right. You see, ol' Ronnie got the right province; he just picked the wrong city

I honestly see 600+ cups and 1300+ President's Trophies from this team.

Ron's a great host, he's very good at corralling strong personalities, but he's never struck me as a guy who knows more about the game than the average fan.

If you believe that I have a very nice bridge to sell you. Ron MacLean would put majority of us to shame when it came down to talking hockey. I would doubt any combination of us would fill the breadth of his hockey knowledge.

Pretty inconsiderate thing say because one guy has an opinion on the Oilers.

And to the point, who cares is Ron Maclean thinks the Oilers are Cup bound in two years time? Lump him in with every single other reporter out there that has made the one and same prediction in the last decade about those Oilers.

What a crock. The Oiler hype train is back on again. Being totally honest the media always latches onto whats happening now, but could you really look back at the last 10 years of Oil hockey and honestly say that this team will ever contend? There are gaps all over the roster and the top end talent doesn't appear to want to play a two way game. They'll play themselves into mediocrity and be a nothing team when the 6x6 contracts end and they want to sign elsewhere.

Why has this site never had a pukey smilie?

No way Edmonton makes the playoffs next year. Too many bad habits to get rid of in the young kids outside of McDavid. I think they might get better after that, maybe quicker than we hope, and the BOA might be pretty epic again, but they don't make the playoffs next year.

This just proves he is an idiot. All his PC clever pun shtick wore off on me a long time ago. He talks too much during Don's time.

That team has less grit than Gio's pinky. If you plan to come out of the West you better have a lot of it. Even skills teams like Chicago have to grind out wins in the post season.

ChiChiChiarelli had better be the best GM in all of human history if he intends to fulfill Ron's prediction.
