How would you feel about acquiring him? Pure skill. 6'2 210 lbs, same age as Monahan, has scored 30 goals before and averaged 54 points over the last three seasons.

Don't really know if we have the assets to go in that direction though.
Sam Bennett straight up. Plugs a hole for us as we get a great #3C whose actually a 2C and can step up with injury. We might not have a #1 centre but having 3 #2 centres would help fill the void and help in the playoffs.

I feel like if we trade Bennett it will be a Kyle Turris situation all over again.

In what world is Monahan not a top line centre?

He was 11th in scoring in the Western Conference this season (8th in goals) while having what many would consider an "off year" and leads an impressive rookie class featuring MacKinnon, Barkov and Horvat in both Goals and Points.

I mean like an Elite #1 C that can take over games. Like a Malkin Tavares Getzlaf Mcdavid Eichal etc.

actually id have to agree. Now that i thought about it i dont think i would do it. Galchenyuk isnt that dynamic and hasnt shown flashes Bennett has. Would rather take the gamble on Bennett.

Montreal does need to make some roster changes if they want to challenge for a cup while Price is still in his prime but they need a forward more dynamic than Backlund. They should be talking to the Avalanche in regards to Duchene or Landeskog.

Pure speculation but I think Price may want out. He has one year left and Montreal has wasted a lot of his good years. Plus they traded PK who was one his good friends. Price in Calgary is my pipe dream.

I think Montreal would probably do something like Price for Brouwer + Bouwma + 2018 2nd + 3 wishes from a genie lamp.

That should get it done.

Isn't Price even closer wth Weber than he was with Subban?

Wouldn't shock me if he wanted out but I don't see the Flames having the pieces they would want to give up. I could see something huge like Giroux for Price though if they were moving him.

Would have to think Treliving would be in on it if the Habs were shopping him.

Backlund
16/17th pick in the draft
Gillies/Parsons
Any non Jankowski prospect

Not much more I would want to pay and I think the cost would be higher wth a star player in return being what the Habs are after

Hab fans are sick with the kid being thrown all over the place. He's a centre. Play him there. Before his knee injury this year he was top 10 in scoring. then they throw him with the plugs on the 4th line and wonder why he isn't lighting it up.

Galchenyuk is a very good hockey player. He just needs a coach to believe in him, let him play his position (and make mistakes, learn from them etc.).

1. Whether Hans fans are fed up with him really has nothing to do with whether he's available
2. HFBoards is trash and using it to support any point you're trying to make only weakens your argument

Agreed, but his usage late in the season makes it seem like his acquisition cost may not be as sky-high as some think it is.

Seems like a Treliving (pls) type move to me.

Would anybody here be willing to trade the 16-17th overall for Tanev?

He'd be a better option to pair with Brodie than Stone IMO.

6'2 200lbs so he's not small
Great mobility and can move the puck well
Really good possession driver too over his career, especially for a more defensive minded Dman who gets hammered with DZs %

Bouma (Cap dump, lives in VAN in the off season, Weisbrod connection)
Rights to Wotherspoon (Change of scenery, Weisbrod connection/2011 Flames draft connection)
2017 16-17th overall

for

Tanev

I'd still use Stone's obvious desire to be here to leverage him into a discount and offer him a 3 x 3 with a limited NTC

Giordano (34) - Hamiton (24)
TJ Brodie (27) - C Tanev (27)
B. Kulak (23) - M. Stone (27)

Bartkowski (28)

That's a pretty awesome well rounded D core IMO. Great average age too.

Kulak graduates and Andersson logs big minutes in Stockton and is 1st call up when a RHD goes down to injury.

Would prefer not. Then essentially we would have traded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and all we get out of it would be Tanev.

Should be trying to re-sign Stone, and only find other options if this fails.

We'd have Tanev, Stone and Lazar from trading those picks.

EDIT: You're right though, heading to the draft with no picks until middle of round 4 (110th I believe) would be very unlikely. Maybe Tre could get Van to put their 3rd into the deal which would be early 60's.

We'd have to add Klimchuk/Poirier

Tanev brings nothing to the table offensively and hasn't played a full season in years. No way I would trade the 16th overall pick for him.
