Capitals really needed this one as going to 7 games would have been disaster for them even if they win. They simply can't do anything easily in the playoffs as the Leafs really had no business being this close in the series and I don't know what it is with the Caps in the playoffs but they simply can't score close to the clip they do in the regular season.

Man you are nuts. They are no more a lock than the Flames are to make the playoffs next season. 50/50 at best as teams like the Lighting, Flyers, Islanders, Panthers all have just as good a shot as the Leafs for the bottom spots as two or more of them will bounce back.

Why can't the Caps score in the playoffs?
It's doesn't make sense with all the talent they can put out there. The Leafs shouldn't have been this hard a test of them IMO.

we'll see where the Leafs are next year, but if you look up and down their lineup, its very solid, and Babcock has won at every level of coaching...
i think Toronto, barring injury is ahead of teams like the Flyers, panthers and Islander... TB is very good though at fought through a lot of injuries.
No one's a lock, cause anything can happen (esp the sophomore slump with all those rookies), but Toronto is looking like a team on the rise for sure...

The pressure of the playoffs is simply too much for their top players. Every year they lose not because they play terrible but because they grip their sticks too tight and can't score goals and put teams away in close games.

Leafs won 40 of 82 games...they had zero pressure. They could easily miss next season

Was cheering for the Caps but the Leafs played a great series. Toronto is definitely a team on the rise. Good for them.

I wonder if some part of them was looking ahead to the Penguins. Crosby & Co. might be in their heads.

Prime example of what a team that is severely over matched can do on the back of a really good goaltender. Anderson played amazing and gave his team the confidence to play aggressively. It is something we haven't seen in years in Calgary.

I honestly thought TOR would win this series.
I think TOR will win the Stanley Cup within 5 years.

This was the first time since 2001 that there were no 7 game series in the first round.
That year, 3 of the 4 second-round series went the distance.

Wow. Talk about over the top ridiculous. They look like the next Avs. Bottom five of the league within the next 5 years is more likely.

It's actually making me infuriatingly mad watching all the quality goaltending in all these series, when I just watched my Flames get swept because every time a beach ball got lobbed in from the blue line or half wall it ended up in the back of our goddamn net.

Try having Pavelec as your starting goalie for nearly a decade...

Haha overmatched? The series was even basically on every stat, but it was all Andersen?
Holtby and Andersen both played great. Teams were evenly matched. Get over it.
