What? They only like 1 team that plays in their entire league? What a bunch of jerkfaces!!

I don't think so?

I like the Flames and follow them pretty close, I've never tried to hide that. But Sabres have always been number one. If I was a bandwagon jumper I'd have had plenty of reason to with this team the last half decade...

I clearly have you confused with someone else. Thanks for not crucifying me over it.

I think you're thinking of the Coyotes fan.

It's either awkwardly over the top with hatred, or it's posters trying to be clever/funny, which most aren't. But it's the other teams I don't really get, there's just so much hate and seemingly zero room for any Canadian team success on this board. Why does it run so deep?

To me having other Canadian teams succeeding is what makes the playoffs more fun to watch, there's just something more exciting about the extra buzz of the coverage and the fan bases that actually care passionately about the sport. It's so fun.

Are we just really petty and angry on this board and can't allow any success and coverage of other Canadian teams without anger and bitterness? It's so weird.
Why is it Anti-Canadian? I'm just curious. This isn't Team Canada Vs Team USA or North Korea. This is the national hockey league where teams represent cities not countries.

The Edmonton Oilers or Maple Leafs aren't Canada's team, they're those cities teams. So it doesn't make me less Canadian to cheer against them, in fact it probably makes me more Canadian in this case because I'm not blindly cheering them in some misguided attempt at patriotism. I'm cheering American teams that employ Canadians so in fact I'm cheering diversity.

Plus Oiler fans are the most arrogant fans in the league and the way the media licks their nether regions makes them sickening in a sort of smell of spoiled honey. The Canucks were a dirt bag franchise for a long time. If the Leafs win, they'll be celebrating the whole Canadian Maple Leafs win every year for a century and renaming all of the NHL awards after current Leaf's players. The Canadians just plain suck and nobody really cares about the Senators, half the time their fans don't.

If you want to know what grinds my game, trying to apply a national label to a regional team and expecting us to blindly support them.

The whole "Canada's team" thing is dumb. The cup was in Canada last year. Wilson, Schultz, Pouliot, Murray, Letang, Kunitz, Fluery, Fehr, Daley and Crosby each brought it here

I think you're confusing being anti Canadian teams with being anti Canadian in general.

There is definitely an anti Canadian bias on cp from the perspective of the teams. It isn't anti Canadian in a patriotic nationalistic sense, but it is clearly a bias against Canadian teams.

I actually think referencing the number of Canadian players is dumb. People referencing a Canadian team winning are supporting the broad idea of a Canadian team, not the individual make up of the team.

No one ever says the answer to who won the cup this year is "23 individuals of various nationalities". They say the Calgary Flames.
