The angry conservative outrage on twitter is quite funny. #BoycottEarls is trending right now.

I've never eaten a Steak from Earls, but I do go there fairly often. I wont be eating there, unless they reverse this.

Here is an Edmonton Journal article:
http://edmontonjournal.com/life/food...ed-humane-beef
Quote:
Restaurants have been jostling to boast about the best ingredients — local, natural, organic — for the last 20 years.
Now Earls has upped the ante with its latest ingredient sourcing accomplishment. The restaurant chain, started in Edmonton in 1982 by Bus Fuller and his son, Stanley, has just become the first chain in North America to serve only Certified Humane beef.
Not only is the Earls’ beef (in all its variations, from ground to sirloin) now raised without the use of antibiotics, steroids or added hormones, it is also being humanely slaughtered, according to the specifications of Dr. Temple Grandin herself.
Grandin is the bestselling author and animal welfare celebrity who has been instrumental in changing how livestock is raised, handled and slaughtered in North America. (She was even the subject of a 2010 biopic starring Claire Danes.) Grandin sits on the scientific committee of Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC), the non-profit organization that certifies beef as meeting humane standards.

And a website to poke around.

If the beef my in-laws raise which is free of antibiotics, steroids and hormones (they don't slaughter) isn't good enough for Earl's, I've already eaten my last meal there.

I wish people were this supportive of Alberta Oil.
Unpopular opinion, but I don't like Alberta beef that much. As much as I like supporting local businesses, I still put myself first. I've yet to see if their new supplier will be able to match the quality of their old one, but like I said, in general I do find US steaks to be better.
How many of you have ever shopped online from US websites to get more for your money?
I just hate their 'humane' angle here. If they just came out and said "We're switching because it's better quality and less expensive" I'd be a bit happier about it

I'm surprised people still go to Earl's. It is very expensive for a chain with set menus, food prepared before-hand, and well-employed 17 year-olds in black polyester mini-skirts.
Funny story: My family used to know "Earl" and his brother, "Jack." Every year they would invite our family of 6 for an all you can eat kind of deal at their Signal Hill location.

How is that "conservative"?
Alberta is hurting. Why wouldn't you support businesses that do business in Alberta?

That's kind of uncalled for. Just because they are dressed in tight outfits doesn't mean they are skanks.

Scientifically speaking that seems like a large enough sample size.

If the Alberta beef industry is hurting, why are beef prices so high? Steak is a rare treat for me now. A rib roast an annual indulgence. Anything that might help cut down on the price is fine with me.
And I hope the people championing 'buy Alberta' don't buy stuff off Amazon and ebay instead of supporting local retailers.

Well for one I don't care how much it helps our economy I'm not willing to go slumming and eat with the plebs.

I buy from everywhere, and I believe in competition.
I'm just saying I don't think the outrage is a conservative thing. Is it?
I'm so confused these days with what's conservative and liberal, I just don't know. I guess I'm politics-confused?

No, you want to create the perception that it's coming from the right and are trying to create facts to support a preconceived notion.
