Carly's secret weapon, I guess, is she might be one of the only people in this race who actually took Trump on and didn't get eviscerated afterward. You could even argue she bettered him. Maybe Cruz is counting on her to go after Trump and bring him down that way. Also since Cruz is going with naming his VP he might as well go totally off the rails and just name his whole cabinet right now.

I'm not convinced this is a bad move. I mean, I hate it as a general election move, but it might be enough to keep Trump a bit of guard, keep some of the focus on his misogynist side, keep him from looking presidential.
One of the very few things scarier in this world than a Cruz presidency, is a Cruz presidency with Carly as the VP. She is still spouting off about the Planned Parenthood video that was demonstrably a hoax, and yet she is either too stupid or too pigheaded to recognize it. She, along with Carson, were the two worst candidates in this process - by a country mile. Well, Huckabee is in there too I guess.
Naming her as his VP candidate reeks of not only desperation, but someone who has no clue where they are or how to get out of the hole they are in.
As for Trump... ugh. He's a moron, but is an infinitely superior candidate to Cruz. If he wins next Tuesday, it's over. Even if he doesn't win on Tuesday, he will likely be close enough for it not to matter at convention time.
The Republican Party is over as we know it. They will need to reinvent themselves, likely splintering into the wack-a-doodle Tea Party, and something that is more akin to the Republican party of old - center right as opposed to crazy right.
^^
That would actually be really interesting. One of the biggest problems with the American system is that they are only two-party.

First, obviously. Second, who you got as more orange: Boehner or Trump?
Quote:
Much of the discussion – and laughs – focused on Boehner’s views on the current presidential candidates. Segueing into the topic, Kennedy asked Boehner to be frank given that the event was not being broadcasted, and the former Speaker responded in kind. When specifically asked his opinions on Ted Cruz, Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd.
“Lucifer in the flesh,” the former speaker said. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”
Another quip from Republican Lindsey Graham along the same lines...
Quote:
"If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.”
Ted Cruz is not well liked amoung his peers. He's probably the least popular member of the club... the only reason that he's getting support over Trump is because while he may be the least popular member of the club he's at least a member. So he's the proverbial "devil they know".

Trump is giving a speech right now. I watched a couple of minutes of it. It's not news that he's dumb, but he just said "We came up with Lyin' Ted. L Y I N boom hyphen" as he makes an apostrophe symbol with his hand.

The Republican race could be interesting in California. Trump was there this evening and there were some pretty sizeable protests outside of his rally.
Another crazy day of protests in California outside of a the California GOP convention. The protesters are trying to storm the Hyatt hotel. Trump is supposed to speak at the convention.
