Where there's smoke, there's fire... so wouldn't be shocked at all if rumours of ownership in Jersey pushing some of his more questionable moves are true.
New Jersey has drafted four players in the last ten years that played more than 200 games. And in my mind, only one of them is currently an "impact" player (Henrique).

John Ferguson Jr, Brian Burke, and Lou Lamoriello are all graduates of Providence College.

If Mark Jankowski's NHL career doesn't pan out, at least he can look forward to his future as GM of the Leafs.

The news is shocking. The media truly has no idea what the Leafs are doing now. The movie itself won't change much at all.

That said, he's a stop-gap GM until Kyle Dubas is "Ready".

IIRC Lou's son is senior VP in NJ. So does he get the promotion? If so, well played Lou.

Wonder if Lou will bring along his cloak of silence when it comes to rumors leaking out.

With the rumor mongers/vultures like Dreger and all the other local reporters in TO trying to one up each other on a daily basis, if Lou tightens up the perpetually leaky pipeline from the GM chair, interesting to see how comically outraged the media in that city will get.

The media seemed out of it even before Lou got hired. Shanahan has cut them off.

Lou hasn't been a good GM in a long time.
The Leafs already hired the best up and comer in hockey last year.

I can't believe that Shanahan, Lamoriello, Babcock, Chiarelli and McLellan are associated with the Leafs and Oilers

Yup, and a rather expensive one at that.

The only good thing about this is that Kevin Lowe is still the boss in Edmonton. I would have hated the thought of so much comedy leaving Edmonton and going to the circus in Toronto.

According to Steve Simmons, Leafs are paying Lou $9 million per year.

That just sounds ridiculous.

Holy hell. I wonder how much Shanny-Lou-Babs cost the Leafs per year.

The Leafs are getting close to having a management team with a total salary that could challenge some teams' rosters!

A year ago a lot of people were impressed with the Canucks new management and coach and a year later ask Canucks fans how they feel.

Odds are slim that both teams are headed to greener pastures. It's likely one team turns the corner while the other ends up as another failure in their history. They of course both bomb. The Leafs in particular when I look at that roster I wonder if Leafs fans will have the patience as it could be a long and painful process. The Oilers have more talent on paper but the culture of losing is strong with that core of players and it's going to take more than one player to turn that around. Time will tell.

Umm .... I'm pretty sure it was the Flames that hired Brad Treliving.
