All very true. I went 22 months and it is good to be working again. I'm certainly not making the big bucks now but at least the benefits are really good and I can feel somewhat productive again. There might be a lot of opportunities to move within the company as time goes on so it may be that I never return to oil and gas.

Pshh.

I know the feeling 1000% Sounds like a banking or finance job from the sounds of it.

I had this issue almost all the time in my banking career and it drove me nuts. During one of the last performance reviews I was at 300 or 400% above my high target and I will admit, a portion of that was also being good at the grunt work and getting lucky once in a while.

Long story short I was doing the review with my direct manager and regional vice president and just asked them flat out. "How high does this column need to go before it raises the performance column cause I can't figure it out? If the branch and region was able to achieve these numbers, would you consider your performance what is basically "average"??

Ended up getting a higher ranking amended and a 16% raise. Still pissed me off considering.

ah yes. that has to be pretty stressful and sad, especially when you want to help, but are unable to.

Nothing to see here. Just a "new" troll trolling an ex-troll, that doesn't realize he just got trolled by his own technique.
I'm not trying to be a troll, really.
sorry. I didn't know that was an ongoing thing from the past. won't ask it again.

Having what felt like every kid in Calgary in the +15s and a couple public buildings yesterday for a field trip to the point where you could barely walk, and now today I'm feeling sick GMG. I bet I caught something from one of those little germ factories. Even one of the +15s wreaked like puke when the kids were jammed in it.

I better not be sick for St. Paddy's next wk..

Just be flattered.

The troll diss is like someone saying you're consciously being annoying or stupid, instead of accidentally. At least you can pretend to own it.

That's what I tell myself.

I did get put on a new project which I'm excited about and if all goes well I'll be asking a raise once that gets rolling.

I already apologized, (which was directed towards undercoverbrother, not you) about I wasn't intending to try and troll. besides, I'm not trolling here. the only topic I was an obviously bad poster was when I got too invested in the one about the guy with wife troubles after a kid. I wouldn't say I was trolling but being somewhat ignorant.

but I just realized you called me a "new" poster twice.
I take it that you assume that I'm a former poster who was come back to just troll certain people? I'm sure an admin type from here can tell you that isn't the case, considering the identification that is asked for to join this site.
not that you likely care one way or the other, just thought to mention it.

Calgarypuck has completely confused my previous definition of what it is to be a "troll." It's just boiled down to a) not being a good reader, or b) just not liking a particular post depending on the context or not.
