Some more info:
- On my last trip, I finally completed watching The Wire.
- Watching Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones at home with the Mrs.

Prefer more of the dramatic/cinematic style for the road
- Seen Mad men
- Working through Californication, but for some reason prefer this in bits.
Read a book instead. I recommend the Game of Thrones series. Its much better than the tv series.

It's been said once already but the Shield is probably my all time favourite series.

<----- Cutis "Lem" Lemansky was the man!!!!

Battlestar is simply awesome too.

I've never seen Firefly but I know it only had one season. Is it really worth watching for one season? did it have a decent ending?

The first season of Heroes. Don't watch after that, trust me, you will only get disappointed.

no, but they did have a movie which did end it kind of. It's one of those shows that should've easily went on for 7 seasons give or take but got cancelled way too soon.

The other seasons, especially the last, weren't bad. It just didn't live up to the hype of the first season.

I still love this version best. I watch episodes every so often on Netflix. The effects, the music, old school Cylons...I still dig it. You can't beat the original theme song imo.

One series that I just started watching is Ken Follett's World Without End.
Its the sequal to Ken Follett's The Pillars of Earth.

It takes place in the same fictional town, Kingsbridge and incorporates the descendents of some Pillars characters about 150 years later in 1327.

Good stuff. Of course the books were better, but they always are.

The West Wing.

I bought all 7 seasons at Best Buy. Rapidly chewing through them and currently on S5.
Great writing IMO.

I haven't noticed it mentioned yet, but "Lie to Me" with Tim Roth is pretty good. I am just over a season in

If you have Netflix and a weekend to kill I'd suggest watching the entire 3 seasons of Arrested Development.

Sherlock is great (6 episodes total)
Firefly one season but almost all shows were great onto themselves
Lost (starts slow but after 4th episode everthing becomes great)
Carnivale - great - however like deadwood cancelled before proper ending
x-files

It's always sunny in Philadelphia & The League

Two best comedies on TV.

I'm in the same boat with Breaking Bad coming to an end till next year. Going to start watching Madmen right away.

The two I would recommend without hesitation is 24 and Southland. I've heard Weeds is good, but I haven't seen it.

Older school sci-fi I used to enjoy "The Outer Limits" and "Quantum Leap". I know you can get Quantum leap on Netflix, but it's pretty dated now.

24, if you can embrace the over-the-top nature of the show and not take it too seriously, is pretty awesome.

I kind of have the same problem right now. Finished up Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Newsroom etc all at the same time it seems.....

Here's some good stuff that I an recommend though.

Friday Night Lights was one of the most engrossing shows I've watched in a long time. Definitely one that hooks you and doesn't let go until you've watched all 5 seasons. It revolves around sports, but that element really is secondary.

The IT Crowd is pretty funny if you like British humor.

One show I started watching recently is Boss, with Kelsey Grammar. I'm really surprised it hasn't received as much attention. If you're into the whole political drama genre, it's pretty good stuff. Takes an episode or two to build, but gets good.

I also recommend Twin Peaks. The first season is pretty great.....the second, uh, not as much.

My wife and I have also started watching X-files from Season 1. It's funny how cheesy and dated it can look at times ( I guess the 90s were longer ago than I care to admit). Still a fantastic show though.
