I'm looking for a specific model of Tag Heuer. Recent model.

Any recommendations on how/where to buy online? Suggested dealers in Calgary?

I'm assuming anything online would be charged duty?

Edit: also it comes in a metal and nato band options. I've seen people in this thread, and elsewhere, say to buy the metal band version and buy the other strap separate. But I can't seem to find how to do that. As in I don't see anyone even eBay selling the nato strap on its own. Suggestions?

Eek, long url. You can register to bid easily. Shipping to Canada is pretty cheap. You'll likely have to pay gst I guess. Not sure about that on used gear though.

Maxime's in Market Mall and Chinook has been my go to place for years for watches.

Oris is a brand I love as they are classy, high quality automatics that are affordable. Some of their limited edition pieces are really nice and my favorite is a Frank Sinatra I got years back.

They carry some other popular bands and the best part is if you have a steel band, polishing and upkeep on them is included as lifetime maintenance.

Some nice pieces in this thread, that's for sure.

Unfortunately they don't have what I'm looking for.

That's a very nice offer but I can't accept gifts from someone I hardly know. Even if it is pretty much the cheapest Tag on the market.

Sent my watch in for the general 5 year maintenance servicing in December. Due to parts shortages I won't get it back until May, pretty ridiculous for a watch still in production.

Anyone sent a watch away for servicing recently?

I have two watches I need to get serviced:

Omega Planet Ocean - running slow and has never had a service in the 7 or 8 years I have had it

Panerai 112 - broken mainspring.

Any idea on ballpark $$ for getting these serviced? Did you send away on your own or go through local dealer? Are there any competent local watch shops who could perform the service?

I just paid $650 for mine, it worked fine going in, just wanted to keep up with the manufacturer's suggested maintenance. Came back from my AD looking like it was restored, looks brand new, every nick ect is gone. Judging by your problems it could be higher for yours. You should get a mechanical watch serviced every 5 years before the oils gum up inside. I took mine to an AD, I wouldn't trust a regular watch shop with something expensive, they need to source parts ect.

Jesus! For maintenance? I've never even paid that much for a watch!

I'll probably never buy another watch. After 5 years of daily use it still looks like the day I got it.

Fair enough, I can understand that. Can I ask what kind of watch you have?

The engineering that goes into an automatic watch is mesmerizing! That is a cool video.

Just a bump for information purposes. Costco.ca seems to have a good selection at the moment, with Raymond Weil and Motblanc back in stock...

EDIT: this in particular looks like a good deal...

I'm a lover of skeleton watches, and an even bigger lover of steampunk. These are hand made watches from Poland, and the guy's work is exceptional. I've been following his work since day one. I stumbled upon his line on facebook years ago, before he even had a website.

The two I own are below. All are custom (mine are tweaked a little from the photos). Spoilered for size for mobile users

I've been wanting to mod my Seiko 5 (Sea Urchin) since the crystal and bezel have lots of scratches. I can easily order a new curved crystal with AR and also a new bezel (Pepsi?) online for cheap but I've never replaced these myself. I know its possible to get cheap caseback removal tools and crystal poppers online too.

Anybody have these and can help do this?
