It's a blue tooth speaker. Cool design if they are actually making it.

So what happens if someone bails on a funded project? They get the money and just waste it. Are there any repercussions?

There aren't any repercussions right now. I was reading an article about that yesterday, how the concept of donating to some sort of an project is being replaced by people pre-buying a product.

It is one thing if you back an album that turns out crappy, entirely something else if you back a product in expectation of receiving that product and it turns to vapour. The concept of Kickstarter wasn't really developed with the concept of a refund in mind.

Yeah, I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of shoddy, inferior, and never to materialize projects coming out of there in the next year. All you need is a nice AutoCAD drawing and a slick video and you can pull in a few hundred grand... that’s why i can't wait to see the final versions of the hidden radio and the Ouya gaming system. Kickstarter seems to be putting its head in the sand as well, deferring all responsibility to the projects creators.

I really hope this one materializes:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...app?ref=search

It's for MPA live, the second version of android music software (sample based) Supreme MPA (which is awsome). The new version is going to be free and have a ton of new features including direct sampling from youtube and a 16 channel mixer. I really wish we could contribute from Canada. The program is spearheaded and created by hip hop producer Su-preme and really seems like a labour of love for him.

EDIT: Looks like we can contribute from Canada, my mistake.

Canadians keen to fund creative works via popular crowdsourcing site Kickstarter will be able to do so by the end of the summer.

The New York-based company will announce its plans for expansion via its website Thursday morning.

So uh, those 5 projects I've funded, how have I managed that?

Am I missing something here? I thought a valid Amazon account was all that was needed to fund KS.

I assume you mean you contributed to a K/S?

I believe you can't start a K/S that other people fund unless you have a US or UK bank account.

Ah once again, my terrible reading comprehension rears it's ugly head.

"keen to fund" is a poor statement however, as it could be taken both ways.

I liked the old days where people had to come up with investment capital themselves to fund their ideas. Its too easy to get a bunch of people to give you money on kickstarter and then there is much less incentive to make a quality product, or meet deadlines. I funded a couple items, one being a phone case for the Iphone 4 and I was completely dissapointed. By the time they finally shipped the case I didn't even have the phone anymore.

I'm excited to see what sort of projects come out of Canada now that Kickstarter is accepting Canadian projects.

So far one of my favorites is this awesome set of sand-building toys from a guy in Toronto.
