I will give the Steelers props for cutting bait. It was a bad pick and they acknowledged that and moved on.

Interesting moves by Pittsburgh. Pickett, Rudolph and Trubisky gone. I'm intrigued to see who they bring in to play along side Wilson.

Tannehill would make sense, given that knows Arthur Smith really well. Bringing back Dobbs would be interesting too. Either way, probably have to draft one to develop as well.
The wildcard would be a trade for Fields. Let him sit behind Wilson for a year, then take over. I don't really see it, but it'd be fun for sure.

Trubisky actually got a deal??? Well the Bills better hope Allen can run every snap, otherwise they're in trouble. How does this guy keep hanging on?

in fairness he is better than Nathan Peterman, yet he has kept a roster spot for many years

I think we sometimes underestimate how just being a professional can keep guys like Trubisky employed for many years. Yeah we all know he sucks, but he's likely a guy who shows up every day, puts in the work, knows the playbook front to back, isn't sulking or creating drama etc...Part of the reason Cam won't get another NFL job is he's made it clear he thinks he's a starter and won't accept being a backup. Trubisky will, so he gets to keep tacking on them valuable pension years.

from Pickett/Trubisky/Rudolph to Wilson/Fields ... just like we all expected lol
I have no idea how all of that plays out, but I'm here for it. My excitement for next season and beyond has exploded over these past days for sure.

I think its a decent thing for the Steelers.
Fields has raw talent even after 3 years as a starter, but is still young enough to need instruction.
Watching and learning for a year behind Russ will likely help him become a more well rounded QB.
How good he could be is debatable but it certainly wont hurt him.

it's just a 6th unless he plays 51 percent of the snaps during the 2024 season ... which he won't, unless Wilson gets hurt.
so Khan got Wilson for $1.2m and Fields for a 6th that could turn into a 4th ... plus jumping from 120 to 98 for getting rid of Pickett. Very little risk, and keeps their options beyond 24 wide open. Really like this. Maybe it all goes down in flames, but you only had Kenny Pickett before anyway, so I only see upside here.

There is definitely some renewed interest in being a Steelers fan now but I'm certainly not very optimistic that the Wilson/Fields combo will turn into positive results.

I doubt this converts to a fourth, so Sam Howell and Kenny Pickett getting better returns than Fields, and Mac Jones getting the same, is objectively hilarious. Of course this being the Bears Fields will now blossom into a quality starter, Stroud will be a HOFer and Caleb will be biggest bust since JaMarcus.

Return is ####ty but it had to he done. No way he could make it to camp.
If Fields turns it around, and I hope he does, teams like the Raiders, Vikings, and maybe the Falcons cpuld come away looking foolish as well. The Steelers have 2 starting caliber QBs and some teams have none

I would have much rather have traded a 4th for Fields than traded anything for Pickett.

I think Fields is good. Chicago is just a terrible organization and QBs go to Chicago to die. It should be illegal for them to draft another QB ever again.

Wonder if Wilson wishes he could reconsider his decision.
