Blues call up 3rd string goalie; ask Allen to stay home for weekend
Jake Allen has been pulled in 4 of his last 6 starts, given up 10 goals on 36 shots the past three starts with a .722 save percentage. He's 17-12-3 with a 2.85 goals-against average and .897 save percentage for the season
I know Elliott rumours back to the Blues was squashed earlier, but would not be surprised if the Blues pursue one of their former goalies; Bishop or Halak

Man they so badly wanted Allen to be the man. This really shouldn't be a surprise after the past couple of years not being able to beat out Elliot I'm not sure what they were expecting by handing him the starter spot. Elliot does make sense because he knows the team and system and could seamlessly fit back in. I would take that 2nd rounder back for him as it's not likely we see the Flames offer him a contract in the offseason.
Sending him home for the weekend is a bit odd though as when's the last time a team did something like this if ever?

the canucks told chris higgins to go home for the remainder of his contract rather than be around the team?
edit:
the canucks telling Virtanen to go to Utica for a few days to get his toothbrush?

Hard to say but maybe he had a personal issue recently and they told him to go deal with it, if so good on the blues, these players are people too

Is there not some rule about a player can't be traded back to the same team within a 12 month period.
I was thinking that was what happened with a flame - dean macamond?

That was because of the waiver draft (which doesn't exist anymore).

I guess Moose and the Blues really were a match made in heaven, and neither him nor Allen were meant to be 60 game goalies, which is why their tandem worked.

I know I am going to get ragdolled for this but I would be on board with trading Elliott for Yak. It isn't like Yak doesn't have the tools to be a high end RW threat and wouldn't it be glorious if he finally put it together with us.

I heard on a podcast earlier in the year that players/goalies who have kids that year tend to struggle quite a bit in the early stages. I believe Allen recently had a kid so maybe that explains his struggles.

I'm definitely worse at my job. Less sleep leaves me less likely to put the work in with staff, go the extra mile with patients, etc

Copley is playing pretty well so far free two periods for the Blues. No chance on both goals against and had made some big saves, especially in the second period.
Allen better get his act together!

I read the same ln an interview with a soccer club owner. Players tend to have down years when they have a new baby. Definitely affected me at my job as well.
