Just when you thought PC hardware prices might recover from the semiconductor shortage Russia throws a wrench in the works. CNBC says chips shortages likely to extend with the Ukrainian invasion.

So Forza 5 stopped working and nothing worked so I tried reinstalling. It (nor any other game) won't install and this issue is most commonly to blame:
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/new...lation-errors/
but that didn't help either. I might have to stick to buying games on Steam since Microsoft can't seem to make a proper store that works.

I've had that issue with every single Game Pass game I've tried. They all just stop working after a few days

The 3080ti is such a rip off though, it's like you're basically paying a scalper $500-700 for the privilege of buying the thing but the scalper is just... Best Buy. Or Best Buy in collaboration with Nvidia. They're really not doing themselves any favours by still having the listings for the sold-out "90% of the performance for 55% of the cost" 3080 cards for $1200 bucks or below on the site, just makes it really obvious.
I guess that's just the reality of the situation though.

Did a spit take looking at those prices. Thank god I'm not in the market for a new card.

Honestly, if I managed to get a 3070 or 3080 at normal, sane retail prices from someone I'd probably build a desktop, because this is a really good generation for it aside from the stupid prices. But I have pretty much resigned myself to probably 5 years of console and laptop gaming.

I'm running with 20 series parts and am able to play what I want at settings that suit me. Over kill, for me, is not worth the premium.

No, it's a good tip for people who want a new rig and money is no object. Honestly, it's not even a bad idea to just buy a couple of those and wait for a few months because I think with the Russia stuff, they're just going to get harder to come by and more expensive so it's probably an easy couple hundred bucks if you're comfortable with that.

More on the short of neon and palladium that are used in semi-conductor production which they both will be cut from exporting in the near/mid-term future. Ukraine and Russia make up more than half the world's production and this will no doubt drive up prices again.

Speaking of semiconductors, it seems that old computer parts that would traditionally just be freely given to recycling, nowadays sell for money because of the semiconductor elements inside them. I have some old parts I'm looking to get rid of, and would appreciate any advice on how to sell them and/or how to get in contact with potentially interested buyers. Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not at all a hardware question but wondering if someone knew a simple way or could suggest a utility to retrieve Win10 key in an existing PC? I know there are utilities you could download but would rather not go shooting in the dark with google searches on that one.
Need to do a re-install on a couple mini PC's but no Win10 sticker anywhere on them.

Good thing Witcher 4 is a few years away - freaking $4000 for a GPU is insane.

Well, it's going to have to run on PS5 hardware presumably, so I can't imagine it being too demanding for a 3000 series anyway.

Did these mini-PC's come with Windows 10 already installed? If so then you don't need the key, it's embedded in the BIOS and Windows will automatically register itself with it when reinstalling
