I don't know how I would react to that horror of a human, but slapping doesn't seem that unreasonable. For those of you who think Puddy grossly overreacted, what would you have done as she continued to hit you? What if she escalated the striking to punching in the face? What if he spit in her face? Worse or better?

What is Worldstar?

Geezus.

You can see all this from Edmonton, eh?

My family is black and most live in the aforementioned urban centers, I'm somewhat familiar with the matter.

Again, this is poor urban black culture. Society hasn't "come down to" anything. It hasn't changed.

Pretty much. I've seen this kind of behavior on the train many times (not necessarily violent though), and yeah, sadly its mostly young black kids.

As for the slaps...don't physically assault someone and expect you won't get hit back. That needs to be universal for everyone. Violence is never ok.

Didn't we learn anything from the Ghomeshi Debacle?

Just when I was 'healing' from so many stories about abuse on women, and I had to see this??? Shame on you.

This video is racist.

Oof. Well, you got me there.

It may well be a thing in poor urban black culture, but from my snowy perch, it seems to be a "thing" in American culture as a whole. At least according to their television programming, including the news.

Conflict, insults, humiliation, bullying,"you showed her girl" and generally rude behaviour seem to be the way things are done across the spectrum. Hell, you could see this kind of confrontation on "Housewives Of Beverly Hills"*, but it would take place at a swanky restaurant, not on the subway.

Now of course I realize that this is television, but still, it seems to be a bit of a theme.

If anyone is serious about condemning the guy you are out to lunch. When physically assaulted self defense is acceptable, he did absolutely nothing wrong.

He was surrounded by a group of people and someone hit him, doesn't matter what the assailants genitals look like. If women want equality don't expect to hit people with zero consequence.

Don't start slapping people and expect it to just be fine because you're a woman

She should consider herself lucky. Maybe next time she hits someone the person decides to slash her face with a razor ... or just shoots her.

Right, because that's all that happened here..no other mitigating factors whatsoever....just a guy slapping a woman...that's what the issue is.

8-ball sounds like he is deaf, special needs or even not a native english speaker.

Look how proud the "lady" looks before throwing a punch:
