One tip I learned wayy too late was that when you're picking perks, the perk above is not a requirement for the one below. All that matters is that you have enough skill points in that category, then you can pick it. I ended up using a lot of perks just to 'get' to a few things, like scrounger etc. But I totally didn't have to. Burn!
I made this mistake but was thankful to undo/re-distribute through the `tild drop down commands (PC possibility).
DLC announcement. Stuff confirmed for March, April and May, with more coming later.
Also the season pass is increasing in price from $29.99USD to $49.99USD, so if you want all the DLC, buy the pass now to save a bunch of money before the price goes up. You have until March 1 to get it at the current price.

I'm excited for the DLC... I played the story all the way through, now I've created a new character (a girl, weird) and have started again but going a different path... mostly by being better educated with my perk choices and spending less time with the minutemen
Anyone with a field report on Automatron? I downloaded it last night but was busy helping my wife make some bags so I didn't get a chance to check it out. Hopefully I have a spare minute or two today to check it out and I'll let you fellers know what I come across.

So I'm a few quests into Automatron. Seems fun so far. A few notes:
I'm finding the quest line quite short. I've only done a few quests and all of a sudden I'm just about to face off against The Mechanist.
The variety of robo-enemies, as well as companion customization, is awesome. You can make a pack-mule, or a total badass warrior sprinting around and tearing everything to shreds.
The new armour is pretty neat too. I've only managed to find one legendary robot armour piece so far, and it was a useless poison resistance piece.
I absolutely love messing around with the Robot Workbench. Lots of fun. Too bad there aren't too many options in regards to robo-parts. I'm not a big fan of the leg options. Mr Handy thruster isn't very useful. Sentry boy legs are too big to fit most places. Protection legs are slow. That leaves Assaultron and Robobrain. Same with arms and chest. Weapon options are abundant however.
I've got a sentry bot with Robobrain tracks and two awesome hammer saws. Dude is a tank. He can carry a butt load of goods, and smashes anything in his way. For the enemies he can't get to right away he blasts them with his face-laser. I wish there were more voice options though. I want a British female voice.

I just finished the main mission, for the most part. I still have some rogue robo's to annihilate, but the mission is done.
Spoiler!
I let the Mechanist live, because I am a good person. She gave me her helmet and armour, which seem somewhat useful but dreadfully ugly. You end up gaining the Mechanist's Lair as a settlement location which is cool. There is tonnes of scrap to be had, but beware, the catwalks can be scrapped too. I wasn't paying attention and next thing I know a bunch of catwalks and support columns are missing. Wonderful.

Location: In a land without pants, or war, or want. But mostly we care about the pants.
Exp:
The DLC was decent, but robots don't do anything for home defence that dozens and dozens of turrets can't. They do make good provisioners, though.
I installed the "more spawns" mod and just spend 3-4 hours a week running around the Commonwealth fighting. Up to level 82 now. Best weapon, by far, is Final Judgement, the unique gatling laser, although I also use a unique power fist for ghouls and trash, and a Lucky missile launcher if I see grouped enemies in the distance.
Gatling lasers have insane range, decent accuracy, and massive damage. I also have another gatling laser I renamed "Mr. Freeze" that does extra cryo damage and freezes enemies on a critical hit, but I found if you shoot someone partly behind cover, or up on a building, they fall over covered in ice, and sometimes that takes them out of visual contact so you can't hit them anymore. Dammit!

Jammies, your timing was perfect to mention final judgement. I was on that mission when you mentioned it. Due to my faction I had to rewind once to make sure I got the drop! Am about to fully upgrade it now. Thanks!
Also, the dlc starts out pretty tough! I ended up bringing the robot with me instead of dogmeat for a change
