Maybe they are working with their image...why fight it It's like Reggie Dunlop's response in Slap Shot when that guy says he "Sucks $ick". What does he say...something like "It's all I can get".

I vomited a little.
I don't even see how that thing is feasible. I can't see how a rink and the seats would even fit inside that... well, at least with the seats not at a 45 degree angle.
edit... hmmm... looks like a tiered/stacked system instead of being set back, sort of like Nationwide I believe?

I actually think it looks pretty cool.
Too bad for the elderly and disabled that have to walk up to their seats at ice level.

You have to be honest, it doesn't look any goofier than the Saddledome.

It looks pretty good.
That being said, there no way that it gets built as shown, way too expensive, not nearly functional enough.

My thoughts exactly.
To be honest, i'm not sure what to think yet. I'd have to see more pictures before I can make a judgement call.

I think JBR in on the right track.
Maybe the alien life forms in Edmonton are tricking the Oilers into building this supposed ice rink that is actually a receiver for intelligent life forms from the planet Mule-et Gigantor.

Umm so I can't remember are tax payer dollars going into it? If so, with the current state of the economy I think as cheap as possible would be the best choice not some artistic monstrosity.

How Ironic, it looks like one of those throwaway cone funnels that you jam into your engine when you need to add oil to your car.

At first I thought it looked bulky, expensive and rediculous.
Upon closer inspection it seems that the golden-spiral-looking-thing is the seating, so now it looks rather sleek and efficient. But it seems like their is very limited space for concessions, I'll have to wait and see on this one.
