Flames Which wingers should the Flames target?

It's a deep free agency crop out there. The Flames have a gaping hole on the top line at RW. Organizationally, we aren't deep at the wing position, so we could also target some depth there. Who should we target to fill these roles?

Potential targets:

Kyle Okposo
Milan Lucic
Jiri Hudler
Radim Vrbata
Michael Grabner
Loui Eriksson
David Perron
David Backes
Troy Brouwer
Mikkel Boedker
Kris Versteeg
Darren Helm
Brandon Prust
Jamie McGinn
Travis Moen
Patrick Eaves
Lee Stempniak
Tomas Fleischmann
Jiri Tlusty
Dale Weise
David Jones

Who out of these guys are Flames next year?

The price tags on Okposo, Lucic, and Eriksson would be too high for me, but they are the only guys I'd want from that list.

Tlusty, Helm, Boedker and Vrbata would be my value targets. I don't think Boedker will fetch the 5m he thinks he's going to get.

Backes my only higher end target.

I'd be OK if the Flames signed Troy Brouwer for Joel Ward money. (~3.25mill per season)

Perron and Backes. Although price might be too high. The other guy I like is Jamie McGinn, too bad he is not a right shot.

One of Lucic, Perron, okposo, backes, and maybe McGuin.

This team has no star wingers other than Johnny and they need at least one more. I guess it depends on who they draft an/or make trades for before then.

Lucic - big mean and in his prime, only 27, 50 point winger
Boedker - Speed to burn, only 26, 50 point winger
Perron - Right shot, gritty, compliments elite players, only 28

For the bottom lines:

Matt Martin - Only 27, 6'3" 220lbs and hits everything that moves
Chris Stewart - Only 28, 6'2 230 lbs, right shot, skates well, mean streak

Size, physicality, grit, skating and not 30+

Lucic would be awesome, but will probably want crazy $/term.

Brouwer, I'd be happy to have signed for a reasonable deal.

+1 for Matt Martin. This guy is just what we need in our bottom six.

I doubt we will have any money to sign a UFA winger. That is assuming no trades or buyouts on burden contracts.

I'm not that enamored by any of them, and the few who do have value will be overpaid because of how weak the top end talent in this free agent class is.

Edit: I do really like Matt Martin though.

Try and go after a 2nd or 3rd tier guy like Brouwer and hope you can get a cheap contract hammered out. Otherwise, none. Don't have the budget space to chase bigger names.

I can defiantly see Treliving going hard after Matt Martin to replace the ever so useless Bollig who could go on waivers and clear.

Brouwer would be too costly after his performance in the playoffs. Someone will overpay for his services and I hope it's not the Flames.

If money is to be spent it should be on Okposo, but I think he will price himself out of our budget.

I see a hard push for Lucic. 55 pts last season is pretty darn impressive. He has size, skill and is what we hopee Ferland would become. While his contract demands might seem high, I could see him signing for a decent contract around 5-5.5 when it's all said and done.

Matt Martin would be sweet to. I went to the Isles game this season and me and my buddy both noticed that Martin was the most impressive guy on the ice. He almost have a Gordie Howe hat trick that night and was easily the most impressive guy on both teams. l'd be ecstatic if we got him.

I'd like Lucic, not just for the fit here but for the angst it would cause Canuck fans.

I think lucic is a 30point player in 3yrs. I'd sign him for a 3/18m contract, but Lucic is looking for his retirement deal. Hopefully the Canucks or oilers give it to him.

I noticed Martin diving and embellishing a lot in the playoffs this year. I hope it's a small sample size thing, because I cannot stand supposed tough guys who do that kind of thing.
