What do folks think about Taylor Hall? I don't think he makes Canada. I don't see him having a slim chance even.

Considering how well he played in the last tournament, I would bet he is under consideration.

How come in hockey it's always Team this and Team that?

Team Canada takes on Team USA?

In every other sport, it would just be Canada vs USA, yet in hockey it's obligatory to add TEAM. It actually annoys me.

Yeah he will likely make it based on politics and the fact that he plays annually in the WHC.

It caught on after the Summit Series when administration decided to name themselves Team Canada.

Personally, I like it.

I'd love to see Bennett named, but with just 4 fwd spots left and the following competing for the job it is a long shot:
Huberdeau, Galchenyuk, Matthews, Drouin, RNH, Schiefele, Domi, Jenner, Strome, Reinhart, Fabbri
I think Hamilton will make the team....
3 D spots left with Trouba, Gotisbehere, Parayko, Murphy, Dumba being his competition.

Jokipakka and Nakladal make their teams, according to TSN.

Sweden has 5 Fwd spots left, Backlund competing against the likes of Nyquist, Hagelin, Hornqvist, Zibanejad, Berglund, Silfverberg, Lindholm, Soderberg, Johansson, Rakell, Jarnkrok, Kruger, Burakovsky, Rask and Lindberg

I think he will be named.

Going into this thing, everyone thought Team North America's glaring weakness would be goaltending. Given Murray's performance in these playoffs, I think we can put that concern to rest. With the emergence of Gotisbehere and Parayko, their defence isn't looking half-bad either. I think the young guys have a real shot.

Hope the Flames can re-sign Nakladal but not sure they will be able to due to our position on defense.

Outside chance on Reinhart making North American U23's -- as is they already have all my favorite players on the team. Would be hard not to cheer for them!

Does Reinhart play on a line with Eichel? That might give him an edge.

With that many centers the line combinations could be just about anything, but here's a guess at how it could go.

Komarov - Barkov - Jokinen
Donskoi - Koivu - Granlund
Laine - Filppula - Teräväinen
Haula - Lehterä - Aho
Korpikoski

Määttä - Ristolainen
Jokipakka - Vatanen
Lepistö - Pokka
Lindell

Reasoning for the defense:
Pokka is the third RH shot with Vatanen and Ristolainen and played well in WHC, so I think his spot is secure. I'm guessing that he'll be paired with Lepistö who is by far the most experienced in the otherwise superyoung defense. Coach Jalonen seemed to really like Lindell in the WHC, but JJ wasn't there so who knows.

He does, and they had dynamite chemistry in the second half of the season.

I suppose O'Reilly has a shot at Team Canada too -- he's been a major contributor at the last two world championships and is a great two-way player to fill in the roster with. I'd be more invested in Team Canada if he could get on, and they picked one of the Flames D-men (Brodie or Gio) as a guy on defense.

I look at that Finnish roster and it's very difficult to get excited about. But Finland always surprises with a much stronger showing than expected. Would not be surprised if they make it far in the tournament.
