Tom was also Lanny's sidekick with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 70's.
Tough guy, he battled illnes for a long time.

Michael Russo @Russostrib
Justin Braun will temporarily leave the #sjsharks after Game 2 to attend his father-in-law Tom Lysiak's funeral in Atlanta

Rest in peace. Easy to forget how successful Atlanta was right out of the box after expansion. Lysiak was an excellent player and a big reason why.

All I can get

Pretty sure I saw him play against the Centennials at the Corral back in the day.
He would've been a great Calgary Flame had Atlanta not traded him.

Just to connect a few more dots...Lysiak's daughter, Jessie is married to Justin Braun. Jessie broke a lot of hearts on a run to 3rd place during MasterChef Season 4.

Lysiak spent part of 8 seasons as a Blackhawk too...he was a talented player, but, unfortunately, will be more remembered for his 20 game suspension for tripping an official.
RIP, Tom.

Tom Lysiak was a part of the trade lineage that led to Darcy Rota and Phil Russell, then Don Lever, followed by Lanny McDonald
Pretty significant players in Flames history, surpassed only by the Nilsson, Nieuwendyk, Iginla, Hanowski lineage
