Flames Flames after Marcus Sylvegard from the SHL

https://www.expressen.se/sport/hocke...heta-pa-honom/

Article says that Florida seems to be the front runner at the moment, but the Flames and Avs have interest too.

Sylvegård is one flashy player, who stands out with his great speed and physical play. Owns a terrific shot. Aren't afraid to show emotions on the ice. Lacks a bit of routine to control himself whenever the game heats up a bit. - David Enbom (2019).

No harm in trying, but history says that if he's actually good enough to turn into something decent, he isn't going to pick Calgary.

Plays on the same team as the one and only Tobias Rieder. Assuming the Flames have the ability to outbid other teams for him, he does not have to be on an ELC?

So they cannot outbid anyone. He will look at possible opportunities, which should favour Calgary.

Basically guaranteed a top 6 role with the flames next year if he signs here where he’s more of a depth guy in the other spots.

Does he look up to Backlund or Lindholm?

An opportunity to play with stars throughout the line up, or the Flames

I get that, but playing on the third line with no PP while watching stars play isn’t the way to go either.

Well, depends, he'd definitely get more ice time here

Calgary would probably make more long term financial sense. He'd have a better chance of getting quality ice time rather than going to Florida where he'd have a harder time working up through their depth.

I recall when Panarin was choosing a team to sign with. The Flames were reported to have been really close to signing him, but he chose Chicago allegedly because he was worried about LW depth on the Flames, while Chicago offered him a chance to step right into a top line role. Something the Flames couldn't offer with Gaudreau already there.

Sylvegard probably isn't vying for 1st line ice time on any team, but he'd have a better shot at top 6 or top 9 time in Calgary than he would in Florida.

Where do you think Sharangovich would rather play this year? Behind the stars in NJ? Or be a top liner here and end up with an exponentially bigger payday?

Chicago offered him a chance to play with Patrick Kane. How much money did that make him?

Marcus Sylvegard's dad, Patrik, is CEO of the Malmo Redhawks.

Sort of like the Swedish version of Jake Bean.
