Anyone planning on watching this weekend? Pretty solid card and of course the return of GSP which should be interesting. It's weird how dead this thread is now...maybe MMA/UFC is on the decline?

I used to post regular in here, just not as interested as I once was. Still follow most of whats happening, but not as religiously.
As for the GSP fight, anyone see him winning it?
I used to really hate Bisping, but he's kind of grown on me. I'm hoping GSP takes him out but I just can't see it. GSP has been off too long, and Bisping is a much bigger man.

I'm split on it. Bisping is bigger but he's one middleweight that I think GSP can beat. Even with a long layoff.

I think GSP is one of those guys who is a meticulous fighter. Ring rust might be an issue, but he knows what he's getting into, and knows what it takes. I think he will be ready and win the fight. That could be me just disliking Bisping and not giving him his credit as well though!

I think GSP's only chance is prolonging a fight to wear out Bisping then take him out. But Bisbing will likely go all out in the first few rounds try and KO GSP. Both guys seem like they've been around forever. More likely GSP won't be as sharp and is more likely to make a mistake that Bisping will capitalize on. Definitely a must watch UFC event. Seems to be an annual event these days.

Cardio is one of Bispings biggest weapons. He typically doesn't fade all that much and usually has tremendous output. The way to beat Bisping is to mix it up.
He got smashed by Tim Kennedy by getting out grappled and beat up on the ground... That's probably the best way to beat Bisping. If GSP keeps him guessing maybe Bisping is more hesitant with his boxing and he can win striking? I'm very interested to see how it goes down. Kennedy is much much bigger than GSP so that route may not work as we'll for GSP.
Bisping has been beaten by solid stand up as well and his takedown defence is really good so much easier said than than done.

Even taking into account GSP's lengthy absence I just don't see how he doesn't beat Bisping.
Bisping barely beat Anderson Silva (Silva thought he had the KO and walked away, foolishly), got lucky beating a rather arrogant Luke Rockhold and then barely beat 40+ year old Dan Henderson.
In those 2 decision wins that Bisping had he was arguably the better fighter. Slim margins. And its not like GSP hasn't been training for well over a year for this.

More interested in Garbrandt vs. Dillashaw and Masvidal vs. Thompson.
I think the GSP fight really depends on if his conditioning will be like what we're use to seeing with GSP in the past. He should win if he doesn't show any rust.

i'd like to watch it but will be at a wedding.
If I order a Pay Per View on Telus, can i hit the "record" button and will it actually record? Or is it one of those events where recording isn't allowed?
Anyone know?

Not 100% sure, but I have tried to record them before mainly to be able to fast forward the commercials and hype, and I wasn't able to.

I've thought that before in this thread. I know this is a hockey forum but I would say that the majority of people posting on here are the target market for the UFC. I'm surprised at the lack of activity in this thread sometimes.
But, at the same time, the more "WWF-ee" the UFC gets, the more interest I lose. I am at about a 10% interest level now where a few years ago I would have put myself around a 75%.
These terrible, on-going press conferences with the obviously feigned staredown antics are really turning me off! The McGregor-Mayweather thing was a huge turn-off. I can honestly envision that last ten percent of interest waning long before I can see that number climbing again.
Just my opinion, and I'm sure the UFC is fine without me. I really just checked this thread today as I was once a big St. Pierre fan so I thought I'd check out the talk with his fight coming up today, but I will very likely not watch it.

GSP looked good tonight. Really nice job!
JJ losing was a shocker, I'm a fan of hers but was glad to see Rose win.
Bantamweight title fight was good too.
Great card tonight!

GSP honestly looked like he was gassing out after the first round. Don't know if 185 is a good weight for him with all that extra muscle
That said he knew he had to finish Bisping in that moment and the killer instinct set in. Good on GSP to recognize his chance and take it.
Two division champion!!!

Nice win by GSP but I am not sure he can go any distance at that weight, he was sucking wind pretty hard there and looked pretty gassed at times.

That was a great fight. GSP needed to take the fight to the ground to win.
