Hunter or Bruschetta sounds good to me. The latter goes well with eating bread.

Dhaliwal, who is maybe 1 of 2 canuck reporters with actual sources
Says tanev was removed from a deal when flames wanted a 1st, not sure if that was on its own or as part of the bigger lindholm deal
Also says they will be suiters july 1 regardless of if they can swing a trade for him, which they will still try and do

I'd happily take Vancouver's 2025 1st.
I love the potential reward on future 1st rounders. No idea what happens in 2025, especially if Pettersson doesn't re-sign.

Are bigger and tilted way to the right teams better?
Are normal sized teams and tilted zero ways better?
Slightly more than 3/5 of players are LH. Would you take a 40 RH prospect over a 45 LH prospect?
I'm open to the argument; I'd like to see what you have to offer.

Let's see if TO, Devils, Sens, and others have to say about that. I'm prety sure this trade and the Tanev speculations will likely put pressures on the interested GM's. It's about time the Flames have valuable assets in their older players that they can trade away right now for a brighter future.

Turn off the PC for a few hours and all hell breaks loose.
Haven't really had a chance to digest it fully but looks pretty damn good at first glance. Good work Conroy.

Was literally me too.
The trial talk was depressing and we were heading into the ASB. Decided I might take a break from the forum for a bit. Was having a nice quiet evening focusing on other things..
So much for that.

Ya I'm guessing that's why it didnt get beyond that, the 2024 1st is cost controlled somewhat, and a top 6 forward was a bigger need right now

Good trade for both sides really.
Vancouver - by some miracle - have a shot this season, and they should take it. Nothing they're giving up was going to help them make the most of their chance, but Lindholm will and I would think there's a very good chance he'd re-sign there if they want to keep him and work out the cap space.
For Calgary, it's the perfect blend of picks and prospects, and the one roster player coming back isn't a pure cap dump either, and may be able to contribute to making the rest of the NHL season interesting for the Flames. After all, we have to watch somebody play out the rest of the games.
Listening to a recount of the two D prospects coming back, it sounded to me that both are basically young and need to work on their strength/power - which I would think for kids their age is the easiest thing to gain. The kid in the OHL in particular - who I'm going to call "Chilly" until there's a better nickname for him - looks like just the kind of big swing acquisition the Flames need to be making at this stage.
On the whole, better than I would have expected for Lindholm, but not a bad deal for Vancouver either unless they flame out in round 1. Which would be fine

Championship teams are built big and evenly spread through their lineups. The large sample size should point to that. It's kind of odd that the NHL has more and more left shot players when they're normally right handed. Regardless of that, I'd like the Flames to get a couple of decent big right shot centers. And yes, I'm a bit biased on the righty because the team is hanging to far to the left!

My only critique on Conroy's body of work as GM is not getting more immediate picks in the Zadorov trade.
Aside from that, he's done some excellent work for a newbie.

Sounds like total platitudes to me. How are Stanley Cup Finalists who lose built? How are Conference Finalists who lose built? How are 2nd round teams who lose built? How are lottery teams built?
If you can prove that there is any meaningful difference, then maybe you have a point that we can learn from. I'd like to see the evidence.

I’ve maintained for years that you need at least 20 high quality prospects in your organization in order to successfully rebuild.
Honzek, Morin, Suniev, Wolf, Poirier, Pelletier, Coronato, Zary, and now Hunter are on that list. Still have a long way to go, with only 9 names on the list.
Having two firsts and a second will help. Perhaps the two thirds also.

Most right handed people shoot left in hockey. Better Puck control that way. If you didn't know that, you should maybe not share your opinion as fact.

Huberdeau-Kadri-Sharangovich
Kuzmenko-Weegar
That’s a powerplay that could score some fun goals.
