Rittich. It's funny how prospect perception works; he's only a year and a half older than Gillies and had a better year, yet here he is battling for 12 while Gillies is at 6.

Call it a tie IMO and put both players as 12/13.

Rittich was a nobody until last year. Whereas Poirer was a legit somebody until last year. Poirer is two years younger and has been playing well in the Q since he was 16-17 years old, hence became a 1st round draft pick in the NHL.
Rittich just happened to get an AHL look and struck lightning. For all we know that's the last of it. At least Poirer is a known commodity.

Can't it be decided by one vote? Like when Quebec decided to stay in Canada.

For those still not sure how to vote. Some Rittich info on his superb season.
Source: https://flamesnation.ca/2017/05/28/p...david-rittich/
Brandon Kisker, Stockton Heat play-by-play man, offers some perspective on Rittich’s season:
He’s so calm. He’s never out of position and he’s extremely athletic. While Jon can steal the show with a show stopping save, Rittich always seemed to not need to make an incredible save because he was always in the right spot. Positionally sound goaltender for sure. The thing that strikes me was his rebound control. I think the two things you need to be an NHL goaltender is the ability to control where the puck goes and to be able to perform at the same level every game. You knew Rittich was going to give you his all each time he started as I could count on probably one finger a game where he was subpar in. Other then that outlier, he was pretty consistent.
With uncertainty in the Flames’ net, where does he see Rittich’s NHL ceiling? Could he be a backup for the Flames next year?
I think he’s a legitimate NHL prospect and not just as a backup. I can see him playing in the NHL and not stopping until he’s a starter. To me, this is the kind of find that comes around once in a while. An unknown entity who exceeds expectations and is so well liked among his teammates that he could be that dark horse that nobody thinks about until he’s already seized an opportunity.

Sure, but the "having been a somebody in the past" is a flawed argument when not paired with trend and trajectory. There are countless prospects that were first round picks, once a somebody, but ultimately never amounted to anybody in the NHL. Just because Poirier has recognized and has started to work on his personal issues doesn't mean he is charted on an upward trajectory... yet...
In regards to Rittich, it is not uncommon for a good goaltending prospect to emerge from a less-than-royal prospect history. It is common knowledge that goalies tend to bloom later, with it being less important that they were a first or second round pick...
I went with Rittich, for his stellar season, consistent style, young age, and proper upward trend.

I still have hopes for Poirier, but not sure he belongs in the top 15, let alone ahead of Rittich

No, Rittich was a somebody who the Flames liked enough to want to bring over to North America on an NHL ELC.

Good idea - have two #12 and then next a #14 - that way this poll can be like an elevator bank - no #13.

Poirier may still have potential with all the off ice stuff he dealt with. But at this point, I need a lot of convincing with his on ice play to show me that he's back on the radar. He can still turn it around, but there are a lot of others who's first year in the AHL is their best and eventually fade out of hockey. Make no mistake the odds are against him.
