Rittich for me again as well.

Rittich: 2.27 GAA and a .924 SV% with 5 shutouts in 31 games last season.

Gilles: 2.93 GAA and a .910 SV% with 1 shutout in 39 games last season.

Gilles got picked at six.

I would choose Rittich over Poirier. The only way I'd change this opinion is if Poirier does a complete 180 after his rehab and shows a bit more of that upside we were looking at that led us to draft him in the first place.

There are more ways to evaluate a prospect than reading the stat line.

2.04 GAA and a .926 save percentage with 10 shutouts in 49 games last year.

That was Troy Grosenick's stat line. I don't think anybody considers him a top prospect.

It's basically throwing a dart at this point, so I went with Poirier. I think he bounces back to form.

Troy Grosenick has played 4 seasons of AHL hockey and is 27 years old.

David Rittich was an AHL rookie and is 24 years old.

I see a big difference there as far as being considered a prospect.

Regardless of Troy's stats, I don't think anyone can disagree that Rittich had a great rookie season last year that exceeded expectations.

I went with him this time around, but haven't prior.

He's got one of the highest floor's of any of our prospects, but I don't see the same high ceiling that I do with a number of our other prospects. That said, I want to see him make the team full time this year and would love him to prove me wrong.

Nice to know we still have former 1st rounders with impact upside (question marks, yes) not in our top 10 prospects. We've come a long way in 15 years...

Also nice to see that only two of our top 10 are first rounders. It's so crucial to hit on your 2nd and 3rd rounders (and free UFAs!), and there's a lot of these guys in the top 10. Good stuff.

Yeah my exact same reasoning.

I also think a lot of people think Kulak tops out as a #5-6, so that's likely why he's so far down in the rankings.
1. Because they got another 5/6 in Engelland who lives in Vegas, brings toughness and leadership
2. Because defense was the position with the most attractive players available and they took a bunch of veteran defensemen in order to flip them for picks.

The fact they passed on Kulak does not necessarily mean he wouldn't be a 5/6 on a lot of teams this upcoming season.

Voted Kulak over Poirier, I think hes more likely to hit his ceiling as a #4-6 dman and could be a nice trade asset or replacement in 1-3 years.

Rittich for sure next round despite only one season to judge. 8th in AHL SV% at 0.924 is remarkable.

That translates to NHL SV% of 0.917. Average or above average for NHL goalie.

Poirier has to show the rebound before he gets my votes. He was 11th in forward scoring last year!

Klimchuk, Shinkaruk and Hathaway had >0.60 pts/game and should go before him.

3 Morgan Klimchuk LW 66 19 24 43 0.65
6 Hunter Shinkaruk LW 52 15 20 35 0.67
7 Ryan Lomberg LW 68 13 16 29 0.43
9 Garnet Hathaway RW 31 8 12 20 0.65
11 Emile Poirier RW 43 6 11 17 0.40

Poirier was number 2 on CP a few years ago. Everyone likes the Ferland narrative. I think he rebounds bigly.

Poirier, Kulak, Rittich, Klimchuk and Prybil.
Not necessarily in that order.
And then it's crazy time.

All kind of guess work at this stage but have a hunch Poirier is going to turn into something.
