I think jaybow qualifies somewhat in that list too. He's a great player but his signing felt like an over-reaction by sutter to the flames allowing too many goals against the previous year. The flea were a high-scoring offensive team that year and he responded by gutting a lot of the scoring depth in favour of a defensive defensemen.

Really impressed with Treliving so far. Very well-spoken.

Ken King meddled and was far too deep into hockey operations in the past but stepping away and setting up this structure with Burke at the helm could be a genius stroke.

Really impressed with Treliving so far and Burke seems 100% behind the concept because Brad doesn't come across as a puppet guy at all. Really hoping Conroy is given that assistant GM job. That would be one heck of a management group with a vast array of skills and knowledge.

very excited that the wait is over.

We are getting a NHL head office respected General manger.

No retreads, reclamation projects or experiments.

Saw the presser and yes he says all the right things but his background is there.

I think were still on course as far as a rebuild is concerned and patience will still be greatly required and rectally discomforting.

Who the AGM ends up being is another piece of surrounding the Flames with smart, successful people.

I really hope things work out for Bob Hartley, Cloutier and Gelinas as they got the most out of a team that ended up with league wide respect for what they accomplished without making the playoffs.

Burke says we need a better defense and that we still need a top defenceman....I want to see what Treliving does and if he really agrees and means what he says about Ramo being a full time starter.

Fun fact: usually somebody has a laptop with CP on it during pressers. This is the first one I can recall that actually didn't...

My favourite part was when Burke said every time he was out scouting Treliving was there or was there the day before. No matter what happens going forward there will be no failures based on lack of effort.

The way Conroy said that Burke delegated tasks to him by just saying do it, in that radio interview with Rhett, says to me that Burke won't be interfering.

He won't be interfering, but I can imagine he'll be a hell of a mentor and the ideal person to bounce ideas off of. Treliving said Burke is 'the single most significant factor' in him being here as GM, and that he looks forward to working with Brian.

You see, anyone complaining that we haven't hired someone with a proven track record as an NHL GM should remind themselves that someone with decades of experience is working in partnership with Treliving as he cuts his teeth. Burke may say he's happy to be rid of his GM duties, but he'll surely have a big say in it.

Can't believe Burke says referring to himself "Ha they're probably thinking 'get this guy off the air now' ". I'll miss the Burke pressers.

With the most anticipate Flames season in at least a decade approaching due in large part to some shrewd trades and reasonable signings/cap management by BT.

I thought I would bump this thread on the hiring of BT. Some radio clips still accessible in above posts. It is really interesting to hear again the process that BB used to identify BT as the best choice for the job.

It certainly sounds like BT would have been quickly scooped up by another organization had BB not acted quickly in that 10 day window the Yotes gave him.

Arguably the most important and correct decision for this Flames organization in this past decade.

I can't wait for the Flames to introduce Treliving... just wonder who they're going to introduce him to.

You say it's a waste, but you took the time to post. You're not very good at this.
