The AV Club has published a rundown of notable May releases. The writeups for Linkin Park and Papa Roach are brilliant.

So, I've kind of always dismissed Kendrick Lamar and assumed I wouldn't like him, but I heard his new album and was blown away. Then I listened to his three previous albums and was blown away again. I'm now mad at myself for not giving him a shot earlier. DNA is such a great track.

Huh..tried to have it start at 8:17 mark but not sure if it is working. Anyways, can't believe I just heard of this band now.

I can't stop listening to Jealous Girls at 8:17.

LCD Soundsystem released a couple of new songs. I don't have a link to a stream unfortunately.

"Call The Police" is ok. Sounds too much like U2 to me though. "American Dream" is much better. I can't wait for a full album.

I read recently that The Districts will be releasing a new album in the summer. Yay! For those unfamiliar with them, think a mix of Band of Horses and Arcade Fire. First single embedded below:

Mexico's greatest band:

http://www.npr.org/2017/05/10/527778...ntent=20170511

Café Tacvba is huge in Latin America. The Mexican rock band has won Latin Grammys and played major U.S. festivals, like South by Southwest and Coachella. Its music has always had a political edge — but its members have never seen a moment quite like this one.

The band is currently preparing to launch an international tour behind its new album, Jei Beibi.

Edit: I posted a video by the band PWR BTTM. I picked up their new record today and really like it. It's one of my top records of the year so far. So I just found out that a member of the band is facing serious charges of sexual assault. They've been dropped by their management and other musicians are refusing to tour with them. I'm shocked by this, and decided to remove the video because if the allegations are true I don't want to promote the band.

The National will also be releasing an album in September.

Also, Jesus and the Mary Chain will be performing on Colbert on Tuesday!

Uh, so, Harry Styles' album slays.

Never thought I'd ever say that.

New song from Sløtface channeling 90s pop punk. Their album comes out in September.

blink-182 dropped the deluxe version of California which is essentially a new album. 11 new songs and as expected, it blows the original California album out of the water.

Linkin Park's new album came out today. Best boy bad album since NSync dropped "No Strings Attached".

Just finished giving it a listen and as a massive fan of them since they broke out, I can't help but feel disappointed they went in this direction. I commend them for not wanting to do the same stuff on each album, but this isn't them. They'll tour it(I'm going in October to see them for the 8th time!), but I'd be surprised if they didn't release something pretty soon after given all the backlash they are getting.

Having said that, from a pop album perspective, there's a couple decent songs on it. Here's my favorite. They performed this instead of their first single on Kimmell last night in memory of Cornell. Emotional performance from Chester for sure. You could see the moment was getting to him. Nice song.

The reviews trashing Linkin Park are pretty funny.

That Linkin Park album is pure trash. Just another band trying to go pop and failing miserably.

Stick to what got you where you are. I'm fine with taking risks but totally changing your sound rarely works.

They do that and especially after 17 years, they get the "all their stuff sounds the same" label.
