What is wrong with Cervenka? Why does he keep getting scratched? Is it still a condition/medical thing, or what? We're so short on C, how is he ever going to be comfortable or competent in the role if he doesn't get a chance to play?

I'm pretty sure its to do with his defensive game. He has been quite bad in his own zone.

He can't keep up.

Whether that's because of illness/injury or physical limitations hasn't been assessed yet.

It's obvious though he doesn't have the engine for the NHL game at this point.

Duchene is in the line up tonight though. Doubt he will be very effective.

Adding Aliu and subtracting Cervenka is a tad perplexing though. Games against the avs have more flow to them. Which would help Roman a little more than playing against these dreary trapping teams.

Yet, it hasn't impacted his game. He's been fine, despite a lack of foot speed. When we had this discussion before I asked if he had had a bad game and you yourself said no.

If it's his conditioning that's keeping him out, fine but it's not a lack of foot speed. It hasn't hindered him whatsoever.

Cervenka had a great game against the Avalanche last time they played. Another questionable lineup decision.

Hopefully Aliu has a good, energetic game.

I don't think Sven will get sent down. My bet is Cervenka is not going to be getting regular playing time here on out. Sven will play with Hudler for a while.

Right, I'm not talking about his footspeed.

He can't keep up. He doesn't have the energy. he's winded after most shifts. doesn't have the hustle to maintain possession. Empty gas tank.

i think they will keep aliu up and recall mcgrattan for a game, have them both dress for Sunday's game against Vancouver. Send Sven down because it's 'a numbers game' and he is an easy player to send down because of his 2-way.

This is the big difference between these two organizations right here. Even with no high draft picks, the Wings continually draft and sign good players to replenish their system.
