Default Elliot Friedman believes Treliving may not be back next season

Said it on 960 this morning that even if the Flams make the playoffs that he thinks Treliving may not return as the GM. Yikes. I know that getting swept by the Oilers wouldn't go down well with ownership but I didn't think things were this dire within the organization. It seemed like he knew more than he was letting on. I kind of hope he's wrong here as the ownership is going to get a bad reputation.

I will be extremely disappointed if Treliving is no longer with the organization next year

Didn't Treliving learn everything from Mahoney? If Mahoney is the replacement I don't think it would be that bad.

On a side note, its kind of funny that Friedman stopped doing radio spots because he didn't like how what he said was being presented (or misinterpreted) and creating unfair speculation then he drops this.

He obviously has talked to insiders, knows something is up and he's the first to let the cat out of the bag. In this day and age of media these guys always want to be the first to break this kind of stuff.

Maybe management is in no rush and are taking a wait and see approach because they know all other 30 teams have a GM locked up.

Where there's smoke there's fire, it will be an interesting off-season. The Flames could be in for a overhaul roster and management/coach wise.

Absolutely ridiculous of Burke, King, and our Ownership group if true.

Just to add some context, he said he's "not 100% convinced Treliving will be back".

Said Calgary is comfortable letting his contract expire, then look at it. Most (if not all) other teams don't work that way, but Calgary does.

Why do I feel like this has something to do with the Gulutzan hire? Treliving clearly wanted a guy that would improve our possession stats. Those stats have gotten better but the team looks uninspired and most of our key players have taken huge backward steps.

I gotta think that Burke would have preferred his buddy Gabby that ended up in Minnesota.

That will be a big mistake imo, I think he's made more good moves than bad. There has to be more to it, I'd love to hear why the Flames think they can do better with someone else. If the Flames are seen as a meddling organization by outsiders, who is going to want this job?

Treliving's job will come down to goaltending and coaching. He hasn't nailed either, far from it. As smart as he could across, as good as his traded look you have to get a damn goalie.

You have to give him another year I would think.

But then again, it's probably tough to sign a GM to only a 1 year deal.

If Treliving gets fired (or not renewed) it will be a short sighted stupid move that is on the verge of turning this franchise back into a laughing stock. Who comes in? Nonis? Treliving took over s team that was finishing the first year of a rebuild. They clearly over achieved and he stick handles that by landing a 22 year old stud D. His drafts in 15-16 look pretty good.

Treliving deserves to change the coach at least one more time before he gets let go

He said "even if the Flames make the playoffs I'm not convinced he will be the GM next season". That tells me he thinks the change may happen regardless of what transpires the rest of the season. You would think Burke would have Treliving's back but the fact he has been quiet and has let his guy become lame duck that something is up.

Give me a break, Brings in elliott the league leader sv% with a good trade to accomplish this and the player lays a egg.

Tre had the right vision and approach. Just the wrong coach hire.

As long as he upgrades the latter, I'd like to see him stay and continue building his team.

Goalies are hard to predict behind new teams, I wouldn't fault him for his moves there. But there was no excuse for the three headed net monster last season.

This organization is an absolute disaster if we let Treliving walk. That this is even in consideration is terrible enough.
