What would be a real story book ending for McCain is for him to find meaning in his tumor and come to some realization that people all over the country face similar problems each day - waking up feeling fine, then discovering their world is coming to an end because of a medical condition. McCain could speak for all of those people by making a statement that Obamacare does need to be repealed and replaced, but repealed and replaced by Medicare for all. He could go out on top and be remembered as someone that would do the right thing, even as he faced his own mortality. But that ain't going to happen. McCain is a Republican, and almost all Republicans are self-serving DBs who only do things that enrich themselves or their corporate backers. So look for McCain to make an impassioned plea on behalf of the Mayo Clinic, and demand that they be allowed to service only the elites and charge whatever they see fit by endorsing the repeal of Obamacare.

Well said...
I like McCain. I am hoping McCain has an epiphany of the kind that you speak of...that a country with the wealth of the US should have basic healthcare as a right of all its citizens...
living in Canada, people can take it for granted until something potentially life threatening happens to them or someone close them...in those moments one is incredibly thankful for living in a country where there is universal healthcare and its citizens look at it as the greater good.
is it perfect? not at all...But for those who have had misfortune strike them, it can literally be a lifesaver

This doesn't even make me angry at this point because it's so expected. It just makes me sad.

I would love to see the itemized bill for McCain's care since being diagnosed with the clot.
And his health insurance is being paid for by the taxpayers. Is this real irony or Alannis irony. I find it hard to tell the difference some times.

Last few days he's been averaging a good 10 tweets before 7AM. Obviously becoming more and more unglued. And look, he knows Barron is alive! Granted it's only to use him as a bit of a shield, but it still counts!
And if you thought the insanity was going anywhere but through the roof, rumours that Reince will be replaced by Scaramucci as Chief of Staff. So somehow it would appear the first six months of this trainwreck are going to end up being the most sane six months.

So you say expanding healthcare is "torturing people", right before a tweet kissing the ass of a guy you once disparaged as not a hero for having suffered torture. And of course since McCain is willing to destroy the last shards of his legacy to help Trump, he's now a hero. McCain owes it to himself, and to salvage his legacy, to tell Trump to #### off here, but we know that's far too mavericky for him.

Pulling himself up by the bootstraps off of his deathbed to come and make sure they kill health care is just such an American thing to do.
That McCain, what a patriot.

Is calling the meddlers Ukrainians new? Instead of Russians?
And how exactly did Kushner prove his innocence? Didnt he just have a closed door meeting with one of the investigations, I cant imagine they got up after the meeting and said to him 'yup, all good here, you are totally innocent. have a nice day'.

Nice to see that a president pressuring the AG to prosecute a political opponent is now not even worth mentioning in the news, just a normal Tuesday.

The Taliban have received improved weaponry in Afghanistan that appears to have been supplied by the Russian government, according to exclusive videos obtained by CNN, adding weight to accusations by Afghan and American officials that Moscow is arming their one-time foe in the war-torn country.
US generals first suggested they were concerned the Russian government was seeking to arm the Afghan insurgents back in April, but images from the battlefield here corroborating these claims have been hard to come by.
These two videos show sniper rifles, Kalashnikov variants and heavy machine guns that weapons experts say are stripped of any means of identifying their origin.
Two separate sets of Taliban, one in the north and another in the west, claim to be in possession of the weapons, which they say were originally supplied by Russian government sources. One splinter group of Taliban near Herat say they obtained the guns after defeating a mainstream rival group of Taliban. Another group say they got the weapons for free across the border with Tajikistan and that they were provided by "the Russians."

One of the more interesting things about Orange's senile tweeting is that he's starting to challenge/attack the Republicans more often. It will be interesting to see how they begin to react now that they are starting to become a focus of his gaslighting efforts.

Two main reasons:
1) Attending a Trump speech is a prerequisite to achieving the pu$$y-grabbing merit badge; and
2) Cheering during a Trump speech and not understanding how Trump's remarks result in bad outcomes for you is a prerequisite to achieving the bankruptcy merit badge.

Oh man I missed the part in Trump's meandering interview with the NYT where he thinks the FBI should report directly to the president.
And I laughed, the boy scouts released a statement after Trump's attempt at a campaign rally with a bunch of 12 year olds.
“The Boy Scouts of America is wholly non-partisan and does not promote any position, product, service, political candidate or philosophy. The invitation for the sitting U.S. President to visit the National Jamboree is a long-standing tradition and is in no way an endorsement of any political party of specific politics.”
Nice.
For 80 years, American presidents have been speaking to the National Scout Jamboree, a gathering of tens of thousands of youngsters from around the world eager to absorb the ideas of service, citizenship and global diplomacy.
In keeping with the Scouts’ traditions, all eight presidents and surrogates who have represented them have stayed far, far away from partisan politics.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt used the occasion to talk about good citizenship. Harry S. Truman extolled fellowship: “When you work and live together, and exchange ideas around the campfire, you get to know what the other fellow is like,” he said.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower invoked the “bonds of common purpose and common ideals.” And President George H.W. Bush spoke of “serving others.”
For a brief moment at this year’s jamboree in West Virgina, President Donald Trump indicated that he would follow that tradition — sort of.
“Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts?” he said.
Then, standing before all 40,000 of them, he bragged about the “record” crowd size, bashed President Barack Obama, criticized the “fake media” and trashed Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. In the lengthy 35-minute speech, the president threatened to fire his health and human services secretary if he couldn’t persuade members of Congress to vote for the Republican health-care bill.
