It's so immersive and feels like I'm actually in the theatre. Never buying a big TV again!

I'm actually more excited for this aspect of VR than games. I suddenly find myself thinking "why should I upgrade my tv to a 60", when I can upgrade it to a 120" in a volcano lair!"

They have a moon theater and this really cool ant theater and it genuinely feels like I am an ant watching a smart phone someone dropped in the forest.

The new goggles also do nothing.

My Oculus Rift came in, but I'm torn between opening it and using it and selling it.. $2000US or so seems to be average on ebay.

And I need a new laptop.

Sell it, by a new lap top and another headset.

My google cardboard came in. Will report back when I get home.

I don't know, they seem to be mutually exclusive unless you always TV by yourself.

My wife watches garbage upstairs and I watch awesome things downstairs. The perfect arrangement for VR.

There will be VR apps to allow you to see your friends in the virtual world one day. They have one for desktops right now.

So I got the cardboard viewer. I know everyone says it's not even remotely close to real VR but I'm SOLD.

That #### is awesome. I can't imagine how good the real deal is since my Galaxy S4 is pretty out dated. A real OLED screen and proper head tracking must be insane.

Is Xbox getting a VR head set? If not it looks like I'm buying a Playstation cause there is no way I'm missing out on this.

Doesn't look good:

For those hoping for an Xbox One VR headset to launch, it appears Microsoft might be about to disappoint you.

The company already have their own standalone Augmented Reality device, The Hololens in the works and it seems they aren’t too bothered about entering the already crowded VR market.

"Would we ever do our own VR device? We could, if we thought we had something unique to add," Phil Spencer told Cnet.

"I don't think the unique add is to plug into the Xbox One console. That's not the magic unlock to me.

All I can think about lately is how Sony is going to have to bring back the Sharpshooter. I'm not entirely sure why the original wouldn't work, but this article explains that they've demo'd it at a convention using a stripped down version. For those unaware, the Sharpshooter was a Playstation Move peripheral that held the Move controller in the barrel of a plastic assault rifle.

I've been watching Vive videos of shooting ranges – and while they all look awesome – it looks like holding something other than the controllers might take it up a notch.

Here's the article on the modified Sharpshooter - http://www.polygon.com/2015/6/25/884...ot-quite-ready

I have nothing to add of real value except that I tried VR for the first time and it blew my mind. I used the Samsung Gear VR that came with the S7.

Even something as simple as jumping around the world on Google Maps was amazeballs.

Played a shooter game too that was wicked.

When this tech ripens in the marketplace in a few years, it will be revolutionary. I doubt this flops like 3D did.

Does anyone know if the PlayStation VR will have any available simulated theater software for it like oculus does?

The PlayStation VR has a cinematic mode. I tried to find a screenshot or video demo, but could not.

"Users can enjoy content on a virtual screen up to 225 inches (5 meters in width) at a distance of 2.5 meters," Sony sad in a press release.
So you can play existing non-VR games, watch movies, etc. on the headset, on this virtual screen (with a reduced resolution).

Try VR porn, get a good 4gb file and watch your mind be blown. I have yet to find a safe demo that captures the power of VR like the porn stuff.

I tend to stay away from that stuff, but I heard it's pretty crazy.

Yeah, I originally wasn't buying into the hype on this, but I'm starting to see the potential. I definitely see more potential it for as an immersive viewing experience than a gaming device. What's the general consensus on the Vive vs. the Rift vs. PS? Does anyone have links to some good articles that break it down?

I'm pretty sure you need a beefy laptop to run the other two, correct?

Well I was actually debating building a gaming rig this winter, so it wouldn't be a huge deal, but now I'm kind of undecided on where I'm going to be living in a year and a half so I'm not as keen on it anymore.
