Darn, maybe I'm thinking of something like Google Glasses, augmented reality with a large screen in front of me. I have triple monitors for home, but with large bezels and less that great stands, I'd like something a little more high tech.
When I use the Oculus video app to watch videos, it generates a VR theatre simulation and my tiny living room with small flatscreen suddenly becomes an enormous theater and I really feel like I went from a 50" screen to a 100 foot screen. It's so immersive and feels like I'm actually in the theatre. Never buying a big TV again!

I'm actually more excited for this aspect of VR than games. I suddenly find myself thinking "why should I upgrade my tv to a 60", when I can upgrade it to a 120" in a volcano lair!"

They have a moon theater and this really cool ant theater and it genuinely feels like I am an ant watching a smart phone someone dropped in the forest.

I don't know, they seem to be mutually exclusive unless you always TV by yourself.
So I got the cardboard viewer. I know everyone says it's not even remotely close to real VR but I'm SOLD.
That #### is awesome. I can't imagine how good the real deal is since my Galaxy S4 is pretty out dated. A real OLED screen and proper head tracking must be insane.
Is Xbox getting a VR head set? If not it looks like I'm buying a Playstation cause there is no way I'm missing out on this.

Doesn't look good:

For those hoping for an Xbox One VR headset to launch, it appears Microsoft might be about to disappoint you.
The company already have their own standalone Augmented Reality device, The Hololens in the works and it seems they aren’t too bothered about entering the already crowded VR market.
"Would we ever do our own VR device? We could, if we thought we had something unique to add," Phil Spencer told Cnet.
"I don't think the unique add is to plug into the Xbox One console. That's not the magic unlock to me.
All I can think about lately is how Sony is going to have to bring back the Sharpshooter. I'm not entirely sure why the original wouldn't work, but this article explains that they've demo'd it at a convention using a stripped down version. For those unaware, the Sharpshooter was a Playstation Move peripheral that held the Move controller in the barrel of a plastic assault rifle.
I've been watching Vive videos of shooting ranges – and while they all look awesome – it looks like holding something other than the controllers might take it up a notch.
Yeah, I originally wasn't buying into the hype on this, but I'm starting to see the potential. I definitely see more potential it for as an immersive viewing experience than a gaming device. What's the general consensus on the Vive vs. the Rift vs. PS? Does anyone have links to some good articles that break it down?

I'm pretty sure you need a beefy laptop to run the other two, correct?

Well I was actually debating building a gaming rig this winter, so it wouldn't be a huge deal, but now I'm kind of undecided on where I'm going to be living in a year and a half so I'm not as keen on it anymore.
