Johnson absolutely killed it last night. When Pete Davidson did that cartwheel into him, I lost it.

That was a great performance last night. A number of funny sketches in a row. It's been a while since I've laughed that consistently at a SNL episode. Rock was very good.

Also loved Cecily as the British bird Gemma. She was like some kind of Spice Girl. Likes to go out with Footballers.

An otherwise bizarre comedy piece was livened by Gemma's ridiculous accent and her pop song, Banana.

'I'm a singer. I have a song called Banana,' Gemma explained before singing: 'Going out with my girls tonight white banana, long banana!'

The whole episode was solid. I have to admitt to being a Rock fan. He doesn't take himself too seriously and seems to know how lucky he is to be where is.

I am probably more critical of SNL than most on here, but I thought they nailed it this week. I like The Rock, though I'm not a huge fan, but I thought he did a great job. Great timing and delivery throughout. I also thought the Kyle Mooney sketch at the end re: the Circus was great. All in all one of the better episodes in some time.

And I'm with Troutman - Gemma was fantastic!

Yeah, the Rock owned SNL this past weekend. Was probably one of the best SNL's since Jim Careys.

The wrestler skit was the best. He has herpes. and not just any herpes, his doctor said the worst case of herpes he's ever seen!! Remember that girl you dated in college, well 8 months after you broke up she had a daughter named Evelyn and she never wants to see you again! And you know that college girl you fell in love with, that was me, I catfished you! And you know that hot picture you've been spanking it to, well that's your daughter!

I laughed my arse off. My wife and I pvr SNL every week but it hasn't been that good for a while. It was pretty solid the whole way through.

The Rock must really learn his lines well or adlib at a very high level, because he wasn't really looking for the dialogue cards until the later skits, it seemed.

Hard to believe he couldn't make the Stampeders.

I actually really like the cast. I think Jost and Che are going to end up being very good

Best hosts this year have been Jk Simmonds and the Rock IMO

Meh. The only good part was the Russian Lady. SNL is becoming unwatchable. If it wasnt for Kate McKinnon I wouldn't even bother.

People have been saying this for 39 years, and keep watching.

I just received this coffee table book:

http://www.supercompressor.com/home/...fee-table-book

Full of amazing behind-the scene photos, the book shows how each week the show proceeds from Monday to Saturday. Amazing what they do in a short time - writing 40 scripts, rehearsing, re-writing, set design and costumes.

I love SNL. You have to take the good with the bad, not every sketch will be a homerun and they never have been before. This has been a fun season IMO

True enough. I gave up on it during the Tina Fey years and have been slowly coming back. Because of Bill Hader and Kate McKinnon mostly.

All these skills are old hat for the Rock, he's used to doing all that while also having to deal with an unpredictable crowd of 20k wrestling fans.

I'd say the Rock is among the best live talents into the world, he can basically whip any crowd into a frenzy by yelling gibberish into a mic for 10 seconds. Not a lot of folk can do what the rock does.

Last night's sketches were too weird for me. I rarely laughed.

Weekend Update was good, though.

Wow, I thought that was another strong episode.

The cold open and monologue were each great.

The CNN skit was fantastic - I haven't laughed that hard for an entire SNL skit in some time, nor I have heard the audience bring one to a pause with their applause in some time. They just nailed afternoon CNN so perfectly.

I also loved the Neurotology skit. Haven't seen 'Going Clear' yet, but it was obviously indebted to it. Heck, even Weekend Update was great, though I'm a sucker for Jedediah's reviews.

And I hear ya on the weirdness, but perhaps my favourite skit from last night was one of the weirdest things I've seen on SNL in some time, i..e the final Easter skit with Michael Keaton and Portia. What the heck was that? Made no sense at all yet I couldn't stop laughing throughout.

Great stuff.

I was debating if enough time had passed to make a joke out of the recent plane "crash"

At any rate it seemed like a bold move to go for it
