Flames First Annual “Field of Dreams” Charity Classic

Field of Dreams Celebrity Softball Game

Quote:
Seaman Stadium will be host for the “Field of Dreams” Celebrity Softball Game.

The “Field of Dreams” Celebrity Softball Game is being organized by 0007 Charity Events and will take place on May, 26th at Seaman Stadium. Come out and watch players and coaches from the Dawgs Organization take on representatives from the Flames and Stampeders as they raise funds and awareness for two local organizations.

All proceeds from the event will be split between Life Choice Dynamics and CC4MS.

Life Choice Dynamics is an organization that works with CFL players and the Calgary Stampeders, to help athletes transition from being football players into their careers afterwards. Many professional athletes fall upon hard times after they exit the big arena life, some experience serious depression or addictions. This organization provides resources and support so these individuals won’t go down that path.

CC4MS, on the other hand, is a not for profit that helps adult male survivors of sexual abuse; an organization that the Calgary Flames are already heavily involved in.

You'll want to get to the stadium when the gates open at 5 P.M. as there will be a Home Run Derby, meet-and-greet with the celebs, a silent auction and 50/50 draws. The game will follow with a 7 P.M. start.

I should add that tickets are selling quite fast considering it was annouced today. I wouldn't delay in buying tickets as event organizers expect to sellout Seaman Stadium.

Yellow dots represent seats available.

Looks like tomorrow nights charity event could be a sellout. The few seats left for sale are in yellow.

Gerry Forbes: Stamps and Flames alumni play ball on the Field of Dreams

Quote:
Three great Calgarians have been working for five months putting this together — former Mrs. Calgary Angie Shilliday, Mr. Calgary Jeff Wilkie, and Rob Laird are the principals and have done a great job selling packages and sponsorships for this nearly sold-out event.

Such Stampeders stars as Bo Levi Mitchell, Quinn Smith, Devone Claybrooks, Rob Cote and Derone Mayo will be swinging the lumber alongside alumni greats including QB Kevin Glenn, Keon Raymond, and Randy Chevrier.

On the Flames roster are all-time greats Lanny McDonald, Perry Berezan, Jim Peplinski, Joel Otto, Jamie Macoun, Bearcat Murray and one of the funniest guys I know, former Hitman star Brent Krahn.

There is a meet-and-greet with the squads and local celebrities like your field host Red Dawg and lots of local TV and radio folk.

You can grab some autographed gems and some neat memorabilia with the silent auction and win a bundle with the 50-50 draw tickets on sale.

All the money being raised from the event goes to two great charities.

One is Life Choice Dynamics, an organization that helps former CFL players transition from the field into employment following retirement when they hang up the helmet.

Many times retirement from sports can lead to depression, addiction, and many can fall on hard times. This organization trains you to go from sport into careers away from the stadium lights.

The other Charity is CC4MS, a not-for-profit organization that helps male adult survivors of sexual abuse. The Flames have been behind this endeavour for years.

The gates swing open Friday night with the game and home-run derby at 7 p.m.. Tickets are only $15 for adults reserved seating, $10 for general admission, and kids under 12 get in for $5.
