It's the first week and during the Olympics, so you know NBC was going to pull out all the stops. Conan's first Tonight Show had Will Ferrell and Pearl Jam.
I'm still curious to see how this will work in the long run with both shows being in New York.
Another really lame move by NBC, making Conan move to LA when he took over but letting Fallon stay in New York
I have no idea. It would have been cool if Jimmy would have given a rundown on the history of the studio, if there is a history. Ie: is this the original studio, etc.
After a 42 year hiatus from New York, The Tonight Show made its triumphant return to the Big Apple thanks to Jimmy Fallon, who tonight made his debut as host of the storied late-night talk show on NBC. Shooting at Rockefeller Center in Studio 6-B -- the same space where Jack Paar and Johnny Carson hosted The Tonight Show decades earlier -- the premiere began with the former Late Night host introducing himself in the new time slot, along with his ever faithful band The Roots and sidekick Steve Higgins.
Which is cool

Ya, I feel bad for Conan about that, you can tell he's just not nearly as happy in L.A. And now that he's with TBS he's basically stuck out there (professionally anyway).
...I know there are much worse things than living in L.A. doing a show for millions of dollars. But as a lifelong Conan fan, it's sad to see him lose that spark since he went out there. You can blame it on just getting old, but when he did that week in Chicago last year, he was vintage Conan again. Dude needs his show back on the East coast in the worst way.
I'll watch the occasional Fallon video when they come across my news feed, but couldn't watch that on a regular basis. Ferguson is still all I have time for, and if it's anyone else it's Conan or Kimmel.
Seth's monologue will be the strength of the show. He has good jokes. His delivery will improve. I'm sure they will work Fred into sketches - that will work better than bantering with him.
I thought Seth was good, but not much better than that. I do however remember when Fallon started, and it really took a full year for him to find good rhythm.
Overall, I liked it. Didn't much care for the set (everything seemed to look kind of uncomfortable) but I thought he did a good job.

It is very interesting how Fallon won over people. When he started on Late Night, most people said he was not funny and they hated him. Conan took a while to find his legs too.
Seth Meyers Makes His Low-Key 'Late Night' Debut
The SNL alum kicked off his new gig with a little help from his friends Amy Poehler and Fred Armisen
Seth Meyers somehow felt like old hat already. We've seen this guy for years already, I felt like it was an uninspiring choice for Late Night and it's going to take a lot to move me off that position.
The band leader is infinitely funnier then the host.
Too many jokes. Not that this is a bad thing and the jokes were good quality; but can Seth keep the level this high going forward? Not easy. If he can, I will try watching it a lot more than I have Fallon's show, which I find way too sweet for my taste.
I loved Armisen on SNL, one of my favourite cast members. But I thought Armisen's band was horrible all around yesterday. Bad quality music, bad performance, bad vibe, bad appearance. I hope they realize it quickly and have someone else replacing the whole band.
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
