Dinosaur fossil found in immaculate condition.
An incredible find recently put on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum. One of my favourite childhood destinations has been working over the past 6 years to recreate a first of its kind fossil specimen found in the northern part of the province.
https://www.theatlantic.com/science/...statue/535782/
"In March 2011, a construction worker named Shawn Funk visited an impressive dinosaur collection at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta. As he walked through halls full of ancient bones, he had no idea that a week later, he’d add to their ranks by finding one of the most spectacular dinosaur fossils of all time. It’s an animal so well preserved that its skeleton can’t be seen for the skin and soft tissues that still cover it."
Amazing stuff.

Too bad it's just one of Satan's many tricks.

We saw it a couple of months ago and it is stunning in person. Just awesome.

This is really cool. I was considering a day trip to Tyrrell when I'm back in Calgary but this seals it, I'm going for sure.
Speaking of Ankylosaurs, does anyone know if there is still that model of one in a front yard on 99th ave near Bonaventure Dr. in Willow Park? I used to always get drunken photos on my way home from the Black Swan and would be keen to check it out again.

Haha yes it's still there! One of the best Easter eggs in the city. I've wanted that for myself since I was a kid.

I'm taking next week off and was thinking of going on a nice long motorcycle ride one day. This definitely gives me a reason to head out on Highway 8. Amazing this thing survived so long in that condition. Without digging the mines up there, none of this stuff would be found, so we have to be thankful for that. However, imagine if somehow they got this fossil out in one full perfect piece, it would have been the fossil find of the Millennium, perhaps all time.
