The livestreams are kind of all over the place and NASA's is crashing so I'd just wait. There's going to be billions of hours of really good videos and they will eventually get aggregated.

I did not notice any change in McKenzie Towne. Wondering if I got the day right.

Expected at least something...

Took selfies of the sun and can't see anything.

and not sure who would look at the sun long enough to do damage. Just a glance to pinpoint it in the sky is enough to tell me not to do that.

That was amazing. I have no words. Totality was incredible, and yes glasses/lens off at totality to view the corona which was breathtaking.

Places that are very very close to totality is where there's a serious risk because the sky is legitimately dark and your pupils are dilated, but it's not completely covered so it does even worse damage.

Yeah, as far as light difference I guess I was expecting...more? It was definitely dimmer but not as much as I thought it would be.

It was noticeably dimmer, but surprisingly bright given 80% was blotted out.

Still, very cool. Jealous of those like Bigtime that experienced the totality!

Cereal box was kind of a bust. You knew something was going on but barely.

Camera selfy told the story better but just looked like a blurry half sun.

I'm sure fancy eclipse glasses would have been nice but without them I had the best luck with a quick glimpse at the sun and normal sun glasses. Could see the shape of what was happening in a half second before I had to look away.

Edit: In Calgary that is. I'm sure it was better further south. I knew better then to fall for the hype on the radio this morning but I did it anyway...

I made a pinhole viewer out of a cracker box at work. Worked like a charm, some others had eclipse glasses so was covered both ways. Pretty cool, and can't imagine how it was in totality. Eager to hear some of your stories.

Make sure you bathe before your next meal, or the sun ghosts will steal your soul.

2024 should be wild, people who missed this one will be hearing for 7 years how awesome totality was.

Incredible. Unforgettable. So glad I dragged my daughter on this road trip. She was absolutely mesmerized. Perfect weather, perfect location. Unreal. Primitive man must have been so confused and scared. I can't believe how eerie and chilly it got.

This might be the beginning of an addiction. Travelling to see eclipses might be my new excuse to go places. This corner of Idaho is gorgeous, ftr.

Your eyes adjust so it's really hard to tell the difference over time, 80% coverage is still probably as bright as a cloudy day in the winter. That's why people make a big effort to go to see it at 100% because that last few percent makes all the difference in the world.

I made a pinhole viewer out of a cereal box this morning at the last minute and it worked really well. I was kind of surprised it actually worked for me.

some of you were expecting a Mr. Burns style blocking of the sun?

Was pretty damn cool watching it through a welding helmet...I can see how watching shadows might have been underwhelming

Hey, roll that hype train long enough and I'm expecting something a little cooler than an eye-searing version of a crescent moon.
