I was on the train. Southbound Somerset train. 50th Avenue. 2:24pm. Abrupt braking followed by announcement from obviously devastated driver that a pedestrian had just committed suicide. It's sad.

Jeez..... The driver actually came on and said that? Brutal :/
I was on the train at about 530 from downtown and there were still major delays. Obviously police stuff etc going on closing down one of the tracks.

I think he was in shock. Maybe 30 seconds later he told us EMS had been dispatched and then maybe another 30 seconds later that he had to turn off the power. That was the last we heard from the driver. We weren't able to get off the train for at least an hour.

I was on the Chinook one last year or the year before and you can tell these drivers are just destroyed.

My wife works with people who are transitioning off workers compensation, and some of her toughest cases are train drivers who have killed people and are suffering from PTSD.
If you're going to kill yourself, don't ruin someone else's life by jumping in front of a train.

It's not that simple man - I know it sounds like it must be but it isn't. If you've reached the point that killing yourself seems logical and necessary - considering others isn't possible.

Oh is that what happened? I wasn't on that train but certainly on one afterwards affected by everything. My buddy who texted me (who didn't realize l was already stuck in that mess, he was trying to warn me about it) while I was stuck on the shuttle bus made it sound like someone was just drunk hanging out on the tracks. I was wondering why I couldn't find anything about it today, quite the assumption he made

Quite the scene on Bow Trail tonight - responders removing a car off the tracks.
#CTRiders #BlueLine CTrains are sharing the outbound/69Street bound platform at Sunalta & Shaganappi Point station due to a vehicle blocking the tracks. We are working to resume regular service, thanks for your patience! #yyc @calgarytransit

global news reporting that a young girl was struck by a train at somerset. tweet suggested injuries were serious and she was transported to children's hospital.
there is another tweet that suggests the girl has died - that was rewteeted by the herald indicating the girl has died.
