not a bad deal for the Devils. Thought Loktionov would fetch a higher return.

Seems very low price for Loktionov. A young responsible center with some offensive upside for a 5th.

Jon Rosen @lakingsinsider
It's out there, but Loktionov to NJD for a 5th. Center depth in LA. Stoll/Fraser signed summer extensions; Kopitar/Richards inked long term.

Fair enough, but shouldn't the Kings have been able to get a better return than that?

What the heck has he done to make anyone think he is worth more than a mid rounder?

Would have been worth a shot at a fifth round pick. Might have needed a third or fourth trading within the confrence.

First of all, I am no fan. However, he is more likely to become a regular NHLer than a random 5th rounder is (plus is further along developmentally).
I would consider him pretty similar to Horak. And I would not trade Horak for a 5th. (and yes, I know he was drafted as a 5th)

Well, he's played in the NHL and not looked useless, so the idea that he'll become serviceable vs. the reasonably remote chance that any individual 5th round selection's going to pan out is probably a good bet.

It's almost like Darryl is making trades there.
Better fire up that package of Butler and Nemiscz and see what you can get from the Kings for that.
I'm sure Brent has great things to say about Butler and Nemiscz is one of Darryl's own picks.

Yup, would have taken that chance for a 5th, even though I don't think he's anything special.

I think it had something to do with Feaster giving up a 2nd for Paul Byron (or a 2nd for dumping Kotalik's contract, however you want to see it) and I'd say Loktionov is a step up from Byron.
